Sunni Dawate Islami is an Indian Non-governmental and socio-religious organisation which works for sunni muslims of India [1] founded by Muhammad Shakir Ali Noori in 1990. [2] [3] [4] It is headquartered at Mumbai, Maharashtra and other offices abroad. [5] They organise International Sunni Ijtema at Azad Maidan, Mumbai [6] [7] [8] for 2 days. [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] It completed its 20th Annual Conference in 2010 [14] and 30th Annual Conference in 2022. [15] [16] [17] [18] It takes out a great procession of Juloos-e-Muhammadi on the occasion of Eid-ul-Milad-un-Nabi every year. [19] [20] [21] Sunni Dawate Islami established SDI Ummeed, a professionals wing to help students in their studies and career and also to help them emotionally to come out of depression.
In 2008, SDI had a European headquarters at Noor Hall in Preston, England, and centres in some other English towns, including: Blackburn, Bolton, Leicester and Manchester. [2] SDI also had a North American headquarters in Chicago. [2] By 2008, SDI had founded 12 madrasas in India. [2]

He was a member of Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament from 1990 to 2008. He represented Uttar Pradesh during 1990-96 and from Jharkhand during 1996–2002 from Janata Dal party. During 1992–1996, he was General Secretary of Janata Dal and later became its Senior Vice-President. From 2002 to 2008 he represented Madhya Pradesh from Indian National Congress.
