Plot
Wealthy businessman Inderjeet marries a lovely woman named Gayetri, but is unhappy with this marriage, as she is unable to bear him any children. He starts frequenting brothels, where he meets with an attractive prostitute by the name of Sitara. Both fall in love and Sitara becomes pregnant after they get intimate. When Gayetri finds out about their affair, she is enraged and will do anything in her power to prevent Sitara continuing to dominate Inderjeet's love. Before she could take any steps, Inderjeet dies in a plane accident, leaving Sitara alone and pregnant. Gayetri conspires against Sitara, invites her over, makes sure she gives birth, then tells her that the child was still-born. A devastated Sitara leaves to continue with her life, leaving Gayetri to bring up her son, Sunny, as her own. Years later, Sunny has grown up, has met with an attractive young woman named Amrita, who he would like to marry. When Gayetri finds out, she is initially happy, but relents when she finds out that Amrita is a dancer and singer on TV, and decides to oppose this marriage at all costs. But when Sunny adamantly refuses to marry anyone else, she permits Amrita's parents to meet with them. It is this meeting that will change everything in Gayatri and Sunny's lives forever, since Amrita is Sitara's niece.
Surprisingly the plot of this film is similar to another film Zameen Aasman starring Sanjay Dutt released in the same year. Both the movies had R. D. Burman as music composer.

Namkeen (transl. Salty), is a 1982 Hindi-language social drama film, directed by Gulzar, it stars Sanjeev Kumar, Sharmila Tagore, Shabana Azmi, Waheeda Rehman in the lead role. It was yet another film by Gulzar made on some very sensitive but untouched aspects of Indian society especially in rural areas. The story Akal Basant was by Samaresh Basu on whose story, Gulzar had previously made Kitaab (1977).

It stars Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Jaya Bachchan, Om Prakash, Usha Kiran, David Abraham Cheulkar, Asrani and Keshto Mukherjee. The music was composed by S.D. Burman. This film is highly remembered for Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan's comic act which came in the same year when the all-time blockbuster Sholay and Deewaar were released.

Apne (transl. Ours) is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language sports drama film directed by Anil Sharma. It is the first film to feature Dharmendra and his real-life sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol together. Previously Sunny and Bobby had worked together in Dillagi (1999) and Dharmendra and Sunny had also appeared together in Sultanat (1986) and Kshatriya (1993). Katrina Kaif, Shilpa Shetty and Kirron Kher play the female leads. The film opened to an excellent response across India and emerged as a hit overseas as well.

Khushboo (transl. Aroma) is a 1975 Hindi-language drama film, produced by Prasan Kapoor under the Tirupati Pictures banner, presented by Jeetendra and directed by Gulzar. It stars Jeetendra, Hema Malini and music composed by R. D. Burman. The film is based on the Bengali novel Panditmashai, by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay, which was earlier filmed in Bengali in 1951 by Naresh Mitra. It was prolific year for Gulzar, with two more releases in the same year, Mausam and Aandhi. The haunting song "O Majhi Re" sung by Kishore Kumar, was famous both for lyrics and melody. A couple of other songs like "Do Naino Mein Aansoo Bhare Hain" and "Bechara Dil Kya Kare" were also very popular. It was praised as a beautiful film with good acting by Sharmila Tagore, Hema Malini, Asrani and Jeetendra.

The film revolves around life in a village hospital and has casteism as an issue at its core. It had a soundtrack by S. D. Burman, which fetched him a National Award for Best Music. It is a remake of Sinha's 1959 Bengali hit Khoniker Atithi.
Yamla Pagla Deewana is a 2011 Indian Hindi-language action comedy film directed by Samir Karnik, featuring Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, and Bobby Deol in the lead roles. The film marks the second pair-up between the Deol family, after Apne (2007). The film's title is inspired by the song "Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana" from the 1975 film, Pratigya also starring Dharmendra.
