Rahul Dev Burman, known professionally as R.D. Burman, was an Indian music director and actor, who is considered to be one of the greatest and most successful music directors of the Hindi film music industry. From the 1960s to the 1990s, Burman composed musical scores for 331 films, bringing a new level of music ensemble with his compositions. Burman did his major work with legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, and Kishore Kumar. He also worked extensively with lyricist Gulzar, with whom he has some of the most memorable numbers in his career. Nicknamed Pancham, he was the only son of the composer Sachin Dev Burman. R.D. Burman is regarded as the Father of Bollywood (Hindi) Film Music Revolution.
Waheeda Rehman is an Indian actress. Regarded as one of Hindi cinema's most accomplished actresses, she has worked in more than 90 feature films, in a career spanning over five decades. Her accolades include a National Film Award and three Filmfare Awards. She was honoured with India's civilian awards; the Padma Shri in 1972 and the Padma Bhushan in 2011. In 2021 she was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest award in the field of cinema, but was awarded in 2023.
Khamoshi is a 1969 black-and-white Hindi drama film directed by Asit Sen, starring Waheeda Rehman and Rajesh Khanna. It is especially remembered for its memorable music by Hemant Kumar and lyrics by Gulzar in songs such as "Tum Pukaar Lo... Tumhara Intezaar Hai" sung by Hemant Kumar, "Woh Shaam Kuch Ajeeb Thi" by Kishore Kumar and "Humne Dekhi Hai In Aankhon Ki Mehekti Khushboo" sung by Lata Mangeshkar. Though what really made this film stand out was the B&W cinematography by Kamal Bose, who won Best Cinematographer at the 18th Filmfare Awards for his work in the film and received high critical acclaim for Rehman and Khanna's performances. Rehman's performance earned her a Best Actress nomination at the same ceremony. The film was a moderate success at the box-office.
C.I.D. is a 1956 Indian crime thriller film directed by Raj Khosla and produced by Guru Dutt. It stars Dev Anand, Shakila, Johnny Walker, K. N. Singh and Waheeda Rehman. The film has Dev Anand playing a police inspector investigating a murder case. The music was given by O. P. Nayyar and the lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri and Jan Nisar Akhtar. It was Waheeda Rehman's screen debut, and future directors Pramod Chakravorty and Bhappi Sonie worked as assistant directors on this film. It is considered to be one of the "Best Thrillers to have ever come out of Hindi Cinema".

Guide is a 1965 Indian bilingual romantic drama film directed by Vijay Anand and produced by Dev Anand, who co-starred in the film with Waheeda Rehman. Based on R. K. Narayan's 1958 novel The Guide, the film narrates the story of Raj (Anand), a freelance tour guide and Rosie (Rehman), the repressed wife of a wealthy archaeologist.
Baharon Ke Sapne is a 1967 Hindi film made under Nasir Hussain films' banner. It stars Asha Parekh and Rajesh Khanna in the lead roles. It also featured Premnath, Madan Puri and Rajendra Nath. Majrooh Sultanpuri wrote the lyrics and the music was composed by R.D. Burman. It is mostly a black-and-white film, except for one dream sequence: the song "Kya Janoo Sajan" was shot in color. In Baharon Ke Sapne, the response from the public in the first week of run forced the film's ending to be changed from a tragic one to happier one from the second week.

The songs were written by Gopaldas Neeraj. The film was a commercial failure. Sachin Dev Burman was an Indian music director and singer. A member of the Tripura royal family, he started his career with Bengali films in 1937. He later began composing for Hindi movies and became one of the most successful and influential Indian film music composers. Burman composed the soundtracks for over 100 movies, including Bengali films and Hindi. Apart from being a versatile composer, he also sang songs in the light semi-classical and folk style of Bengal. His son, R. D. Burman, was also a celebrated music composer for Bollywood films.
Maya is a 1961 Bollywood film directed by D.D. Kashyap. The film stars Dev Anand and Mala Sinha along with Lalita Pawar in the main lead. This film Maya was made just a year before Asli-Naqli, but with a very similar story line. It was less successful in the box office compared to Asli-Naqli. But with the music of the film, composed by Maestro Salil Chowdhury and the songs penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri, the film was a big hit and was much liked.
