In June 2023, The CW renewed the series for a fourth season with a shortened 10 episode order. [15] That November, season four was confirmed to be the final season. Casting

Main cast members Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Alex Garfin, and Michael Bishop will return as Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman, Lois Lane, Jordan Kent, and Jonathan Kent. Michael Cudlitz was promoted to series regular following his guest appearances as Lex Luthor in the previous season. [8]

With the announcement of the fourth season, the supporting cast members were expected to be affected by budget cuts. Former cast members Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wolé Parks, Dylan Walsh, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Taylor Buck, and Sofia Hasmik, who portrayed Kyle Cushing, Sarah Cortez, John Henry Irons, Samuel Lane, Lana Lang, Natalie Irons, and Chrissy Beppo departed as series regulars with the option of guest starring in the future. [8]

Walsh meanwhile indicated that he would not be returning in any capacity, [8] but the Be More Super podcast later reported in December 2023 that he would return for two episodes, [18] while Emmanuelle Chriqui would also guest star in an unknown number of episodes. [19] Navarrette confirmed in July that she would return as a guest star for at least three episodes. [12]
