Surreal World is a leading boutique Australian visual effects and animation studio in Melbourne, Australia. [1] Founded in 1995, [2] it is the creative studio of award-winning Melbourne artist, composer, animator, and visual effects filmmaker John Francis.

Surreal World operates a visual effects and animation services facility for the film, television, and advertising industries and a production studio, developing a slate of entertainment projects.

Surreal World has created visual effects and animation for domestic and international TV series and feature films, including all three seasons of the U.S. TV series La Brea (2021 - 2023), the Liam Neeson feature film Blacklight (2022), and Poker Face (2022), directed by and starring Russell Crowe. Multi-award-winning TV series include Nowhere Boys (2013 - 2018), Wentworth (2013 - 2018), and A Place To Call Home . Top Australian box office feature films include Paper Planes (2014), Oddball (2015), Ride Like a Girl (2019), and Blueback (2022).
