Susanne Gubler (born 13 July 1965) is a retired Swiss footballer who played for FC Bern and the Switzerland national team. [1]

Since retiring from professional football, Gubler became a coach of FC Basel's women's team. [2] In her first season, she won the Swiss Super League. [3]

The 2006 Basel hooligan incident occurred on 13 May 2006 in Basel, Switzerland. On that day hooligans supporting the Swiss football club FC Basel 1893 stormed the field of St. Jakob-Park after a championship-deciding match against FC Zürich. Zürich scored in the dying moments of the match and won 2–1. The goal ended a chance for Basel to win the Swiss Super League for a third time in a row. This resulted in property damage and riots between hooligans of both teams' supporters after the match, an incident considered one of the worst incidents involving hooliganism in Swiss sport to date. 115 people, including police, were injured, with 15 hospitalizations.

Fussball Club Basel 1893 has a long and illustrious history, that spans the period from 1893 to the present day. Having competed at the highest level of football in Switzerland for most of this time, FCB currently play in the Swiss Super League. The club was founded on 15 November 1893. At first the club played their home games in the Landhof stadium. During the mid- 1960s Basel they played their games in St. Jakob Stadium which was demolished in 1998. During the construction of the new stadium, between 1998 and 2001, the Stadion Schützenmatte was the club's temporary home ground. Since 2001 Basel play home games at St. Jakob-Park, which is currently the largest club stadium in Switzerland.

The SwissWomen's Super League is the highest-level league competition for women's football clubs in Switzerland. It was established in 1970.

The Swiss Women's Cup is a women's football cup tournament that has been organised annually since 1975 by the Swiss Football Association (SFV-ASF).
