Career

In 1999 Hill received the Strathbutler Award for New Brunswick artists. [3] Hill's work is held in the collections of the New Brunswick Museum [4] and the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. [1]

Beaverbrook Art Gallery Art museum in New Brunswick, Canada

The Beaverbrook Art Gallery is a public art gallery in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. It is named after William Maxwell "Max" Aitken, Lord Beaverbrook, who funded the building of the gallery and assembled the original collection. It opened in 1959 with over 300 works, including paintings by J.M.W. Turner and Salvador Dalí. The Beaverbrook Art Gallery is New Brunswick's officially designated provincial art gallery.

Anthony Flower (1792–1875) was a Canadian artist. He was born in London, England on March 4, 1792, the son of merchant mariner Cornelius Flower and Margaret Nicholson. Anthony Flower arrived in the New World in the fall of 1817 on his father's ship the Trent. By the spring of 1818 he was the owner of farmland on the banks of the Washademoak Lake at MacDonald's Corner, Queens County, New Brunswick. There he built a small frame house. In 1820 he married Mary Green, a local woman and the daughter of Loyalists James Green and Elizabeth Carpenter. Anthony and Mary had four children: Cornelius, Margaret, James and Mary. Mary Green Flower, "his dear dear", died September 13, 1867, at six o'clock in the evening. Anthony Flower continued to farm and paint until his sudden death, Thursday, December 9, 1875, at the home of his friend, Brother William Briggs. He is buried in the MacDonald's Corner Baptist Church Cemetery.

Viktor Mitic is a Serbian-born Canadian painter and sculptor living in Toronto, Ontario. He is best known for incorporating firearms in his art, a skill he acquired during national service in his native Yugoslavia. Because art and violence coexist in an inexplicable way, Mitic says his art highlights the absurdity and senselessness of gun violence, but at the same time he transforms these acts into art. One of his most notable works, the Blasted Beaverbrook, was commissioned for exhibition in 2009 by New Brunswick's provincial gallery, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

Jeffrey Spalding Canadian artist

Jeffrey John Spalding was a Scottish-born Canadian artist, curator, author, and educator. Spalding earned his BA in 1973 from the University of Guelph, a master's degree in art education from Ohio State University and an MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. For more than forty years, Spalding taught at various education institutions and was actively involved as a museum professional. Over the course of his career he worked as a curator and director at various visual arts institutions including the University of Lethbridge, the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, the Glenbow Museum, and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.
