Suzanne Jung (also known as Jung Sei-eun) is a former primetime news anchor, journalist and editor at Channel NewsAsia. In 2018, she was appointed "honorary ambassador" by the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. [1] Jung is a consultant for themediaconsultants. [2]

Beginning in 2002, Suzanne Jung spent 14 years as a news anchor on the Singapore-based television network Channel NewsAsia. [3] [4] She co-anchored and produced for Channel NewsAsia’s flagship morning show, “AM LIVE!”. [5] Among the stories she covered were the 2003 Jakarta bombings and the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. Suzanne received awards for a number of her reports including for her coverage on the IMF/World Bank meeting in 2006 and the 13th ASEAN Summit, which was hosted in Singapore in 2007. [5] [6] In 2011, she filmed a documentary on UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon [7] and the world body which was a finalist for Best Documentary at the New York International award as well as at the Asian Television Awards. [5]

Personal life

Originally from South Korea, Jung arrived in Singapore with her family in 1983. [8] She is married with two children. [4]

Education

Jung was educated at the then Dover Court Preparatory School, in Singapore. [9] She studied journalism at Yonsei University, graduating in 2001. [1]

ASEAN International organisation of South East Asian countries

ASEAN, officially the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, is an economic union comprising 10 member states in Southeast Asia, which promotes intergovernmental cooperation and facilitates economic, political, security, military, educational, and sociocultural integration between its members and other countries in Asia. ASEAN's primary objective was to accelerate economic growth and through that social progress and cultural development. A secondary objective was to promote regional peace and stability based on the rule of law and the principle of United Nations charter. With some of the fastest growing economies in the world, ASEAN has broadened its objective beyond the economic and social spheres. In 2003, ASEAN moved along the path of the European Union by agreeing to establish an ASEAN community comprising three pillars: the ASEAN security community, the ASEAN economic community, and the ASEAN socio-cultural community. The ten stalks of rice in the ASEAN flag and insignia represent the ten southeast Asian countries bound together in solidarity.

Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Asia-Pacific free trade agreement

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership is a free trade agreement among the Asia-Pacific nations of Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The 15 member countries account for about 30% of the world's population, 30% of global GDP, and 53% of the world's exports as of 2020, making it the largest trade bloc in history. It is the first free trade agreement among the East Asian China, Japan, and South Korea, three of the four largest economies in Asia. As of 2 November 2021, six of the ten ASEAN and four of the five non-ASEAN signatories have deposited their instruments of ratification of the RCEP with the Secretary General of the ASEAN. The trade pact is projected to enter force on 1 January 2022.

Dover Court International School Independent school in Singapore

Dover Court International School is an international school in Singapore. The 2018 North Korea–United States Singapore Summit, commonly known as the Singapore Summit, was a summit meeting between North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump, held at the Capella Hotel, Sentosa, Singapore, on June 12, 2018. It was the first-ever meeting between leaders of North Korea and the United States. They signed a joint statement, agreeing to security guarantees for North Korea, new peaceful relations, the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, recovery of soldiers' remains, and follow-up negotiations between high-level officials. Both leaders also met separately with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
