Groningen is the northeasternmost province of the Netherlands. It borders on Friesland to the west, Drenthe to the south, the German state of Lower Saxony to the east, and the Wadden Sea to the north. As of November 2019, Groningen had a population of 585,881 and a total area of 2,960 km2 (1,140 sq mi).
Heracles Almelo is a Dutch professional football club based in Almelo, founded in 1903. The club has won the Dutch national title twice, in 1927 and 1941. Heracles won the Eerste Divisie title during the 2004–05 season, gaining promotion to the Eredivisie for the first time in 28 years. The club has remained in the top division ever since. Ter Apel Monastery is a former monastery in the village of Ter Apel in the northeastern Dutch province of Groningen. It is the only monastery in the larger area of Friesland and Groningen that survived the Reformation in a decent condition, and the only remaining rural monastery from the Middle Ages in the Netherlands. The convent buildings house a museum for monastery and church history and for religious art, as well as two contemporary art galleries. The former lay church of the monastery still functions as a reformed church.
Eurosonic Noorderslag is an annual four-day music showcase festival and conference held in January in Groningen, Netherlands. The first three days of the festival (Eurosonic) feature artists from all over Europe, the last day of the festival (Noorderslag) features only Dutch artists. The conference is held during all four days of the event. Several awards are presented during Eurosonic Noorderslag: the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards, the European Festivals Awards, the Buma Cultuur Pop Award (Popprijs), the Pop Media Award, The Feather, the "Iron Venue and Festival Animals" and the Buma Music Meets Tech Award.
Ede Ulfert Staal was a Dutch singer-songwriter from the Northern province of Groningen who sang mainly in Gronings dialect.

Student en Stad is a local political party in Groningen in the Netherlands. The Blue Carpet, is a series of bridges under construction in Groningen, Netherlands. It will connect the village of Blauwestad with Winschoten, the largest city in the region. It is a cycle and footbridge, 3.5 metres (11 ft) wide and 800 metres (2,600 ft) long. Its estimated cost is 6 million euro, with a completion date isslated for February 2021.
VV Noordscheschut is a Dutch association football club from Noordscheschut, Netherlands. Its home ground is Sportpark De Meulewieke. Club colors are blue-white. Its first squad plays since 2020 in the Hoofdklasse Saturday.
