David James Andrew Taylor, better known his stage name Switch, is an English DJ, songwriter, sound engineer, and record producer. He is best known for his work with M.I.A.. In the fidget house genre, Switch runs his own music label "Dubsided", as well as the label Counterfeet, established in 2006 with fellow producer Sinden. He has released various singles under his own name, and is also well known for remixing and producing for many major artists. He is a former member of the American electronic dancehall group Major Lazer.

The Count & Sinden is an electronic music production duo from London formed in 2006 consisting of Joshua "Hervé" Harvey and Graeme Sinden. Their 2008 single "Beeper", featuring American rapper Kid Sister, has peaked at #69 on the UK Singles Chart, and has also gotten a number 1 spot on the UK Dance Chart after its club success.

Major Lazer American electronic music group

Major Lazer is an American electronic dance music trio, which includes record producer Diplo, and DJs Jillionaire and Walshy Fire. It was founded in 2008 by Diplo and Switch, with Switch leaving after three years in 2011. He was then replaced by both Jillionaire and Walshy Fire. Its music spans numerous genres, mixing reggae with dancehall, reggaeton, soca, house and moombahton.

Most notably Switch has worked extensively with fellow British artist M.I.A. co-producing tracks on her albums Arular and Kala . For the latter, he travelled to work with M.I.A. in A. R. Rahman's Panchathan Record Inn and AM Studios and other locations such as Kodambakkam, Chennai and Trinidad and Tobago. He says "When you go somewhere like India, and especially Jamaica, it puts you in a different train of thought, outside your usual working conditions. They use music as their voice; they use it for politics, for religion. So, I think for people that are struggling, they can use it to vent frustrations, or to celebrate.” [1]

<i>Arular</i> album

Arular is the debut studio album by English-Sri Lankan recording artist M.I.A.. It was released on 22 March 2005 in the United States, and one month later in the United Kingdom, with a slightly different track listing. In 2004, the album's release was preceded by two singles and a mixtape. M.I.A. wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the album and created the basic backing tracks using a Roland MC-505 sequencer/drum machine given to her by long-time friend Justine Frischmann. Collaborators included Switch, Diplo, Richard X, Ant Whiting and Greg "Wizard" Fleming. The album's title is the political code name used by her father, Arul Pragasam, during his involvement with Sri Lankan Tamil militant groups, and themes of conflict and revolution feature heavily in the lyrics and artwork. Musically, the album incorporates styles that range from hip hop and electroclash to funk carioca and punk rock.

<i>Kala</i> (album) album

Kala is the second studio album by English-Sri Lankan recording artist M.I.A., released on 8 August 2007 by XL Recordings. The album features musical styles including dance music and makes extensive use of South Asian music such as that of the urumee, a drum used in gaana music native to Tamil Nadu, India. It was mainly written and produced by M.I.A. and Switch, and features contributions from Timbaland, Diplo, Afrikan Boy and The Wilcannia Mob.

In 2009 Switch collaborated with fellow producer Diplo (whom he met through artist M.I.A.) to create the album Guns Don't Kill People... Lazers Do under the name Major Lazer.
