Syeda Bilgrami Imam (born 9 November 1941) [1] is a writer and activist based in New Delhi, India. She was a member of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), India, and has authored a book titled The Untold Charminar, which describes the culture of Hyderabad. [2]
Imam has received awards for both her literary contributions as well as social activities. Some of her works were shown at film festivals such as the Cannes and New York. [1] As an advertising professional, she is a recipient of national and international awards including the "Indira Super Achiever Award" presented by the Institute of Change Management, Pune. [3]
The Charminar constructed in 1591, is a monument located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The landmark has become known globally as a symbol of Hyderabad and is listed among the most recognised structures in India. It has also been officially incorporated as the Emblem of Telangana The Charminar's long history includes the existence of a mosque on its top floor for more than 425 years. While both historically and religiously significant, it is also known for its popular and busy local markets surrounding the structure, and has become one of the most frequented tourist attractions in Hyderabad.
