Syeda Ummehani Ashraf is a senior Professor of Urdu at the Women's College of Aligarh Muslim University. [1] [2] She is the wife of Urdu poet and critic,Syed Amin Ashraf.[ citation needed ] She has authored books including A study of Classicism and Romanism in Urdu.
Ummehani Ashraf was born to Syed Aale Hasan and Syeda Khatoon on 26 December 1949 at Kichaucha Sharif,Ambedkar Nagar District,Uttar Pradesh,India.[ citation needed ] She did her primary schooling at the village madrasa in Kichaucha Shariff. She cleared the matriculation examination as a private candidate in 1966. She received a B.A in 1973 an M.A in 1975,and a PhD degree in 1981 from the Aligarh Muslim University.[ citation needed ] Her PhD thesis title was Shumaili Hind ke Qasaid Ki Farhang. [3]
She was appointed Urdu lecturer in the Women's College of the Aligarh Muslim University in 1986. She became a professor in 2002.[ citation needed ]

It was created by the then Chief Minister Mayawati and named in memory of Bhimrao Ambedkar,who worked for the advancement of the deprived classes,women and other weaker sections of society. Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman is an Indian scholar of Unani medicine. He founded Ibn Sina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences in 2000. He had earlier served as Professor and chairman,Department of Ilmul Advia at the Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College,Aligarh Muslim University,Aligarh,for over 40 years before retiring as Dean Faculty of Unani Medicine. Presently,he is serving AMU as "Honorary Treasurer". In 2006,the Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri for his contribution to Unani Medicine.

Syed Waheed Ashraf is an Indian Sufi scholar and poet in Persian and Urdu. Ashraf received his B.A.,M.A. and PhD (1965) degrees from Aligarh Muslim University. The title of his doctoral dissertation was A Critical Edition of Lataife Ashrafi. After serving at a number of Indian universities,Ashraf retired as head of the department of Arabic,Persian and Urdu at the University of Madras in 1993. Syed Amin Ashraf was an Urdu Ghazal poet and critic. He earned his PhD in English Literature from Aligarh Muslim University on the topic Major Themes and Imagery in Sarogini Naidu's Poetry,and later served the same department. He produced three poetic collections and a critical compendium of essays in the form of a book. Several academic awards were conferred on his poetic anthologies,and numerous critical articles and books praised his poetic artistry.
AMU Malappuram Centre is one of the prominent educational institution of Aligarh Muslim University in south India in the state of Kerala in Malappuram district near Perinthalmanna at Cherukara post. It was established in 2010 by the ministry of Human resource and Development,central government of India. Rehana Khatoon is an Indian scholar,teacher of Persian language,former Head of the Department of Persian,University of Delhi and the author of Encyclopaedia of Persian Language and Literature. She was honoured by the Government of India,in 2014,by bestowing on her the Padma Shri,the fourth highest civilian award,for her contributions to the propagation of Persian language and literature. Rehana Khatoon is the first woman alumni of the Aligarh Muslim University to be awarded the Padma Shri.
Nazir Ahmed (1915-2008) was an Indian scholar,writer,and teacher of the Persian language. He was honoured by the Indian Government in 1987 with the Padma Shri. He received this award for his contributions to the propagation of Persian Language and literature.
The Aligarh Movement was the push to establish a modern system of Western–style scientific education for the Muslim population of British India,during the later decades of the 19th century. The movement's name derives from the fact that its core and origins lay in the city of Aligarh in Northern India and,in particular,with the foundation of the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875. Yasin Mazhar Siddiqui was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar and historian who served as director of the Institute of Islamic Studies of Aligarh Muslim University.
Syed Muhammad Ashraf is a Retd. Civil Servant (IRS) and an Urdu novelist and short-story writer of distinction. He is first person to qualify civil service examination in Urdu language in India. He has written novels and several collections of short stories. Some of his stories have been translated into English and other languages. He has received the Sahitya Academy Award in 2004 and Aalmi Farogh-e-Urdu Adab Award by Majlis-e-Farogh-e-Urdu Qatar in 2018.
