Sylvana van Hees (born 4 April 1993) is a Dutch wheelchair basketball player (1.5 disability class) and a member of the Netherlands women's national wheelchair basketball team and Doneck Dolphins Trier. She won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, with the national team. [1] Also, the team won the gold medal during the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024
After a clinic she started with playing wheelchair basketball in Middelburg when she was 16 years old. After playing wheelchair basketball she lost 23 kilograms in one year. She weighed 120 kilograms in 2012 and decided to have a stomach reduction and helped her to lose a total of 70 kilograms. Currently she trains at the national Olympic training centre Papendal. [1]
When she was two years old, she contracted meningitis and both her legs and her right forearm had to be amputated. She studied leisure management at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. [1]
She played in the Dutch Eredivision national league, with the clubs: RBVM, Arrows'81 and Rotterdam Basketball. Currently she is playing in the German competition (erste bundesliga) for the Doneck Dolphins in Trier.
Ellie Victoria Cole, is an Australian retired Paralympic swimmer and wheelchair basketball player. After having her leg amputated due to cancer, she trained in swimming as part of her rehabilitation program and progressed more rapidly than instructors had predicted. She began competitive swimming in 2003 and first competed internationally at the 2006 IPC Swimming World Championships, where she won a silver medal. Since then, she has won medals in the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, the Commonwealth Games, the Paralympic Games, the IPC Swimming World Championships, and various national championships.
Jennette Jansen is a Paralympian from the Netherlands competing mainly in category TW4 wheelchair racing and later as a basketball player and cyclist. She competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, in Women's individual class 7, winning a gold medal, and in Women's road time trial H4–5 winning a bronze medal.
Jamey Jewells is Canadian 1.0 point wheelchair basketball player, who has played for Team Canada and the Trier Dolphins in Germany. She was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, and raised in Donkin, Nova Scotia.
Britt Dillmann is a 1.0-point wheelchair basketball forward, who plays for RSV Lahn-Dill in the German wheelchair basketball league. She has also played for the national team, winning a silver medal at the 1988 Summer Paralympics in Seoul.
