TA/DA scam (Travel And Dearness Allowance) is a corruption scandal during the Siddaramaiah administration in Karnataka state in India. The scam was exposed by BBMP commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad that found eight Member of Legislative Council (MLC) of Karnataka Legislative Council claiming allowances by submitting fake bills. [1]

R. B. Thimmapur, one of the accused, [2] [3] was later made the excise minister. [4] in the Siddaramaiah cabinet The scam is said to have cost the state exchequer a total of 37 lakh rupees. Other MLCs accused in the scam are C. R. Manohar, S. Ravi, N. Appaji Gowda, Allum Veerabhadrappa, G. Raghu Achar, N. S. Boseraju and M. D. Lakshminarayana. [5] [6]

Jagadish Shivappa Shettar is an Indian politician, who served as the 15th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 2012 to 2013. He is currently serving as Member of Karnataka Legislative Council. He has subsequently served as Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. He also served as the Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly during 2008–2009. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Earlier in 2023 he had joined the Indian National Congress, where he quit the BJP on being denied the MLA ticket in 2023. He represented Hubli-Dharwad Central Vidhan Sabha seat, which he resigned in 2023 before the elections. In March 2024, he was announced as the BJP candidate from the Belgaum Constituency for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

Dayananda Reddy is an Indian politician, entrepreneur, philanthropist and a former MLC for Bangalore Urban district at the Karnataka Legislative Council. He is known for adopting 7500 underprivileged students and giving them free education since 2010 through his foundation funded by his own businesses. Till date, the students of the foundation have planted more than 50,000 trees across Bangalore. The students have also been trained to spread awareness for keeping the city clean and green. Reddy joined the BJP in March 2018.
