TSS St Andrew was a passenger vessel built for the Great Western Railway in 1931. [1]
TSS St Andrew was built by Cammell Laird at Birkenhead as one of a pair of new passenger vessels, the other being TSS St David, and launched in November 1931.
She was set to work on the Fishguard to Rosslare service in replacement of her namesake St Andrew of 1908.
She was requisitioned by the Admiralty in the Second World War as a hospital ship, taking part in the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940. She returned to the Fishguard to Rosslare service in 1946 and continued in service until 1967 when she was scrapped.

The North Pembrokeshire and Fishguard Railway was a railway company in south-west Wales, incorporated to extend the moribund Narberth Road and Maenclochog Railway, with a view to developing a port on Fishguard Bay and ferry services to Rosslare in Ireland.
The Great Western Railway's ships operated in connection with the company's trains to provide services to Ireland, the Channel Islands and France. Powers were granted by Act of Parliament for the Great Western Railway (GWR) to operate ships in 1871. The following year the company took over the ships operated by Ford and Jackson on the route between Wales and Ireland. Services were operated between Weymouth, the Channel Islands and France on the former Weymouth and Channel Islands Steam Packet Company routes. Smaller GWR vessels were also used as tenders at Plymouth and on ferry routes on the River Severn and River Dart.
