TSV Weilimdorf (officially: TSV Weilimdorf 1948 e.V.) is a German sports and leisure club. [1]

Contents

The Futsal team became German champion in 2019 and 2021 [2] [3] and is a founding member of the Futsal Bundesliga, the highest German league in the futsal from the 2021/22 season. [4] [5]

History

At the introduction of the Futsal Regionalliga Süd in 2016, the TSV won the championship and then reached the semi-finals of the German Futsal Championship. In 2019, the TSV became German futsal champions through a 5:4 final victory over the HSV-Panthers. In the new edition of the final of 2019, in 2021, they could prevail again 3:1 against the HSV Panthers and became German Futsal champion for the second time. In the 2021/2022 season, the TSV will participate in the newly founded Futsal Bundesliga.

The Introduction of the 2. Bundesliga was the step of establishing a professional second tier association football league in Germany in 1974. The new league, the 2. Bundesliga, played its first season in 1974–75 and continues to be the second-highest league in the country. Its introduction reduced the number of second divisions in Germany from five to two and the number of teams at this level from 83 to 40. It eliminated the necessity of having a promotion round at the end of the season to determine the two teams promoted to the Bundesliga.

The Futsal-Regionalliga Süd is the highest german futsal league. It consists of 10 teams and was introduced in the 2015-16 season with seven teams. The winner of each Futsal-Regionalliga takes part in the Deutsche Futsal-Meisterschaft to determine the German champion at the end of the season. The second-placed team has the chance to qualify for the Deutsche Futsal-Meisterschaft through a playoff round. The bottom teams of the Regionalliga are relegated directly or compete in a relegation playoff round. The Futsal-Regionalliga Süd is organised by the Southern German Football Association and includes the Federal States of Bavaria, Hessia and Baden-Wurttemberg.
