History

The company was founded by Jumoke Dada in 2018. [2] [3] [4]

In December 2018, Taeillo ran an exhibit to showcase new designers of furniture, textile and lighting. [5]

In February 2020, Taeillo set up an augmented reality exhibition at Lagos social media week.[ citation needed ]

In October 2021, Taeillo held an exhibition at Eko Design series during Lagos Design Week [6]

In June 2022, Taeillo was featured on CNN's Inside Africa. [7]

Funding

Taeillo raised about $3 million in funding over three rounds, starting from a $365, 000 pre-seed round in 2019. [8] Its first round was backed by Montane Capital, Co-Creation Hub (CcHub) and B-Knight. In January 2021, CcHub added another $150,000 investment. [9] In December 2022 the company raised $2.5 million in seed funding from Lagos-based investor Aruwa Capital Management, to help it scale its existing operations in Kenya. [10] [11]

African design encompasses many forms of expression and refers to the forms of design from the continent of Africa and the African diaspora including urban design, architectural design, interior design, product design, art, and fashion design. Africa's many diverse countries are sources of vibrant design with African design influences visible in historical and contemporary art and culture around the world. The study of African design is still limited, particularly from the viewpoint of Africans, and the opportunity to expand its current definition by exploring African visual representations and introducing contemporary design applications remains immense.
