Taha Baban is a Kurdish writer and artist.
He was born in Suleymania, Iraq and has written a number of books demonstrating the crimes of the former regime led by Saddam Hussein. [1] Taha Baban initiated the annual Baban Golden Prize in 1970, which is awarded to actors considered to have given the best performance of the year.
Sulaymaniyah or Slemani, is a city in the east of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and is the capital of the Sulaymaniyah Governorate. It is surrounded by the Azmar (Ezmer), Goizha (Goyje) and Qaiwan (Qeywan) Mountains in the northeast, Baranan Mountain in the south and the Tasluja Hills in the west. Before the removal of the last Baban leader in 1850, their rule had become limited to their capital Sulaymaniyah and few surrounding villages.
