Tahoe Prep Hockey Academy is the first hockey preparatory boarding school in California. [1] It is located in South Lake Tahoe, California on 16.2 acres in the Meyers community. It provides elite high altitude training, athletics and fully accredited NCAA college preparatory academics for student-athletes in the 9th thru 12th grade. [2] Tahoe Prep Academy also offers an additional year for post-graduate students.

The Tahoe Prep Hockey Academy was founded by Jami James, Leo Fenn, Mike Sechrist & Michael Lewis in 2016. Tahoe Prep Hockey Academy had two teams, Prep & Varsity, in their inaugural season which played in the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League and the Western Prep Hockey League for the 2016/17 season. [3] They practice out of their home rink the Tahoe Ice Arena in South Lake Tahoe. [4] The Tahoe Prep Academy has several NHL Players on their advisory board of directors including NHL All-Star and Hall of Fame player, Teemu Selänne, who works closely with his good friend, Leo Fenn, on several different business ventures. Fenn & Selanne founded the Selanne Foundation in 2010 to assist with youth hockey in the Southern California area. [5]

For 2017/18 season, Tahoe Prep Academy team has been approved to play in the North American Hockey League Future Prospects Tournaments in Blaine MN. For the 2018/19 season, Tahoe Prep Academy has joined the NAHL Prep Division [6] which has been created for Prep teams throughout North America. NAHL is generally regarded as one of the top Junior leagues in North America [7] and competition to the Tier I Elite league. The Tahoe Prep Academy hockey teams are coached under the direction of Mike Lewis from the in the Crease hockey documentary film in 2006 and Leo Fenn, who has coached in So Cal with the JSerra Catholic High School, LA Jr Kings and the Anaheim Jr Ducks programs.

Teemu Ilmari Selänne is a Finnish former professional ice hockey winger. He began his professional career in 1989–90 with Jokerit of the SM-liiga and played 21 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Winnipeg Jets, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, and Colorado Avalanche. Nicknamed "the Finnish Flash", Selänne is the highest scoring Finn in NHL history, and one of the highest overall; he retired in 2014 11th all-time with 684 goals and 15th with 1,457 points. He holds numerous team scoring records for both the Winnipeg/Arizona franchise and the Anaheim Ducks. His jersey number 8 was retired by the Ducks in 2015. In 2017 Selänne was named one of the '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history. On June 26, 2017, Selänne was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame as the second Finn after Jari Kurri.

Saku Antero Koivu is a Finnish former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He began his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1995–96 after three seasons with TPS of the Finnish SM-liiga. Koivu served as the Canadiens' captain for ten of his 14 years with the club, making his captaincy tenure the longest in the team's history, tied with Jean Béliveau. Koivu was the first European player to captain the Canadiens. He also served as captain of the Finnish national men's ice hockey team from 1998 to 2010, and was inducted into IIHF Hall of Fame in 2017.

A first-round selection, 19th overall, at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, he played in three NHL All-Star Games and was a member of the Ducks' 2007 Stanley Cup championship team. A playmaker and power forward, Getzlaf is the Ducks' all-time leader in games played, assists, and points and the all-time playoff leader in goals, assists and points. He led the Ducks in assists twelve times, including a franchise record of 66 in 2008–09, and in points eight times. Getzlaf joined the NHL's Department of Player Safety in 2024.

Oleg Fedorovych Tverdovsky is a Russian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played professionally from 1994 to 2013. He was selected 2nd overall by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the 1994 NHL entry draft, playing 713 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes, and Los Angeles Kings. He won 2 Stanley Cups with the Devils in 2003, and the Canes in 2006.

Their first game of the season was held on October 7, 2011, against the Buffalo Sabres in Helsinki, Finland. The Ducks had a disappointing season compared to 2010–11, struggling in the first half of the season and digging a hole that was too deep to climb out of despite a second-half resurgence. 2011–12 marked the second playoff miss for the Ducks in three seasons. The Ducks ultimately finished the season in 13th place in the Western Conference with a 34–36–12 record.

The 2014–15 Anaheim Ducks season was the 22nd season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 15, 1993. The Ducks won 51 regular season games and defeated the Winnipeg Jets and Calgary Flames in the playoffs before falling to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks in a seven-game Western Conference Final. 2015 marked the third playoffs in a row from which the Ducks were eliminated by losing a Game 7 at home after leading 3–2 after Game 5. Also, their final two losses to the Blackhawks were the only two playoff games the Ducks lost in regulation.
