Taiyuan East railway station is a railway station on the Tongpu Railway, Shitai Railway and Shitai Passenger Railway, in the People's Republic of China.
In 1959, the station changed to its current name from Taiyuan North railway station.
Niangzi Pass, also called the Ladies' Pass, is a mountain pass west of Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei Province in North China. One of the major passages from Shanxi Province to Hebei Province across the Taihang Mountains, it is 55 kilometres (34 mi) west of Shijiazhuang, at the point where the Shitai Railway crosses the border between the two provinces on its way to Taiyuan.
Beijing–Shijiazhuang high-speed railway is a 281-kilometre high-speed rail line operated by China Railway High-speed between Beijing and Shijiazhuang that opened on 26 December 2012 after 4 years of construction. The total investment is 43.87 billion yuan. The design speed is 350 km/h (220 mph), and the opening cut travel times between Beijing and Shijiazhuang from 2 hours to about 1 hour. This railway is the northern section of the 2,100 km (1,300 mi) high-speed Jinggang line connecting Beijing and Guangzhou, but also speeds up trains between Beijing and Taiyuan, which continue on the Shitai passenger railway.

The railway opened on April 1, 2009. It now forms part of the Qingdao–Yinchuan corridor.

The Datong–Puzhou or Tongpu railway, is a major trunkline railroad in northern China, and the main axial railway of Shanxi Province. The railway is located entirely within Shanxi and diagonally bisects the province from Datong in the northeast to Fenglingdu, near the village of Puzhou, in the southwest corner. The line is named after Datong and Puzhou, and has a total length of 865 km (537 mi). The line is often referred to by its northern and southern halves with Taiyuan, the provincial capital as the midpoint. Southern Tongpu railway from Taiyuan to Fenglingdu is 513 km (319 mi) in length and was built from 1933 to 1935. The Northern Tongpu railway, from Datong to Taiyuan is 351 km (218 mi) in length and was built from 1933 to 1940.
