Takbeer TV is a free-to-air Islamic TV Channel based in the United Kingdom. It can be viewed on Sky channel 749 as well as online and by certain satellite services. It was launched at a time when other Islamic channels were also being established. [1]

Mission

Takbeer TV Channel's aim is to provide, represent and promote a positive outlook of Muslims & Islam and to act as an interface between Muslims & non-Muslims in order to remove the misconceptions people have about Islam. [2]

Programming

Takbeer TV offers educational, current affairs, and entertainment programmes from an Islamic perspective. In October 2011, the channel began to air programming from Dawn News. [3] Dawn News covers eighteen hours a day of the schedule, featuring news, current affairs shows such as 'News Night with Talat', 'Kab Tak' and 'Baat Nikaly Gee' and other shows e.g. 'Mast Morning With Maira', 'Sport Zone', 'A Taste of Fusion', '92[Identity]', 'Equinox' etc.

Controversy

In 2010 Ofcom received a complaint regarding the alleged abusive treatment towards the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Ofcom asked the licensee on several occasions to provide the recording for review. The licensee did not provide the recording and the channel was held in breach of broadcasting regulations. [4] Takbeer TV has also been reprimanded by Ofcom for "inciting violence" against Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. [5]

Islam Channel is a UK-based, free-to-air, English language, Islamic-focused satellite television channel funded by advertising and donations. It was founded in 2004 by Mohamed Ali Harrath, a Tunisian activist and businessman who is also its chief executive officer. It was reported in 2008 that UK government research found that 59% of British Muslims watched the channel. It broadcasts across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, is streamed live on the internet and is soon to commence broadcasting in North America. Islam Channel began broadcasting in March 2004 on Sky Digital channel 836, but subsequently moved to channel 813, then 806, now 737. In April 2010, it launched on Freesat channel 693.

Muslim Television Ahmadiyya International

MTA International, is a globally-broadcasting, nonprofit satellite television network and a division of Al-Shirkatul Islamiyyah which was established in 1992 and launched the world's first Islamic TV channel to broadcast globally. It consists of nine international channels that are run and funded entirely from donations by the members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Baitul Futuh Mosque

The Baitul Futuh is a mosque complex of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, situated in Morden, London. It is one of the largest mosques in Western Europe. Completed in 2003 at a cost of £15 million, entirely from donations of Ahmadi Muslims, the full complex accommodates 13,000 people. The main mosque has a height of 23m above ground, and to maximise capacity the building extends below ground. Baitul Futuh is located in the south-west London suburb London Borough of Merton. It is situated next to Morden South railway station, 0.4 miles from Morden Underground station and one mile from Morden Road tram stop.

Channel S UK-based television channel targeting the Bangladeshi community

Channel S is a UK-based, free-to-air television channel targeting the British Bangladeshi community. The channel was established on 16 December 2004 by Mahee Ferdous Jalil, a Bangladeshi businessman in London. On Sky it at first had a timesharing deal with ATN Global, and then in 2005 began to broadcast for 24 hours, 7 days a week; it is currently available on Sky channel 777. The channel claims to be the "Voice of British Bangladeshis across the world", showing programmes suiting community needs. Its slogan is "Working for the community".

<i>Dispatches</i> (TV programme)

Dispatches is a British current affairs documentary programme on Channel 4, first broadcast on 30 October 1987. The programme covers issues about British society, politics, health, religion, international current affairs and the environment, and often features a mole inside organisations under journalistic investigation.

<i>Undercover Mosque</i>

Undercover Mosque is a documentary programme produced by the independent television company Hardcash Productions for the Channel 4 series Dispatches that was first broadcast on 15 January 2007 in the UK. The documentary presents video footage gathered from 12 months of secret investigation into mosques throughout Britain. The documentary caused a furore in Britain and the world press due to the extremist content of the released footage. West Midlands Police investigated whether criminal offences had been committed by those teaching or preaching at the Mosques and other establishments.

Persecution of Ahmadis Religious intolerance in Pakistan

The Ahmadiyya branch of Islam has been subject to various forms of religious persecution and discrimination since the movement's inception in 1889. The Ahmadiyya Muslim movement emerged from the Sunni tradition of Islam and its adherents believe in all the five pillars and articles of faith required of Muslims. Ahmadis are considered non-Muslims by many mainstream Muslims since they consider Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the movement, to be the promised Mahdi and Messiah awaited by the Muslims.

Ummah Channel was an Islamic television channel based in the United Kingdom. It launched in August 2009 by replacing 9X's former Sky EPG slot on Sky Digital and was closed down at the end of 31 July 2017 and is no longer broadcasting.

MTA1 World Muslim television channel

MTA1 WORLD or just MTA1 is the first television channel of the MTA International satellite network. It was launched on 1 January 1994 and was initially named as AMP or Ahmadiyya Muslim Presentation. The name was later changed to Muslim Television Ahmadiyya or MTA International.
