The Southern League was a Minor League Baseball league that operated in the Southern United States from 1964 to 2020. Along with the Eastern League and Texas League,it was one of three circuits playing at the Double-A level,which is two grades below Major League Baseball. Its headquarters were in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta,Georgia. The league was replaced by Double-A South.

Milne Field in Jacksonville,Florida. On December 3,2019,the university announced it would discontinue its football program,effective immediately.

The Southern League of Colored Base Ballists was the first organized Negro baseball league. The league's only year of operation was 1886. Ten teams competed in the league which stretched from Jacksonville,Florida to Memphis,Tennessee with several other southern teams mentioned as possible members in newspaper articles from the period. The league appears to have collapsed in early July.
Christopher Andrew Hayes is an American college baseball coach and former third baseman. He is the head baseball coach at Jacksonville University. Hayes played college baseball at Jacksonville for coach Terry Alexander from 1992 to 1995.
