Tanner James Maguire (born July 15, 1998) is an American child actor. He appears in the film Janie . He is most famous for his roles in Letters to God [1] and, earlier, in Saving Sarah Cain , in which he plays Josiah Cottrell. His sister, Payton Maguire, [2] also acts.
Born in Scottsdale, Arizona, Tanner's interest in acting began at the age of three after a visit to the local community theater to see Peter Pan . [3] By the time he was six, he had gone on to perform in nine different productions on stage. Tanner began to express interest in not only being in front of an audience but also being in front of a camera. His family relocated to Los Angeles and immediately Tanner began to work in television appearing on numerous popular shows, proving the move successful. Maguire has appeared in several national commercials.
Tanner donated an autographed bandanna from the movie Letters to God to Brendan Hogan, a young boy with brain cancer. [4]

She is best known for her roles as Harriette Baines Winslow on the ABC/CBS sitcom Family Matters (1989–1998), a role she originated on its forerunner series Perfect Strangers. From 2001 to 2005, Payton provided the voice for Suga Mama Proud on Disney Channel's animated series The Proud Family and reprised the role in the 2005 TV Movie The Proud Family Movie and also on Disney+’s revival The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. The role earned her an NAACP Image Award nomination in 2005. Payton also had recurring roles as the personal assistant to Gregory Hines' character, Ben Doucette, during season two of Will & Grace (1999–2000).

Walter Jerry Payton was an American professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons with the Chicago Bears. Nicknamed "Sweetness", he is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time. A nine-time Pro Bowl selection, Payton is remembered as a prolific rusher, once holding records for career rushing yards, touchdowns, carries, yards from scrimmage, all-purpose yards, and many other categories. Payton also retired with the most receptions by a non-receiver, and he had eight career touchdown passes.
Payton Jordan was the head coach of the 1968 United States Olympic track and field team, one of the most powerful track teams ever assembled, which won a record twenty-four medals, including twelve golds. He was born in Whittier, California. Jordan was exceedingly successful as a collegiate track coach for a decade at Occidental College and for 23 years at Stanford University. A star three-sport athlete in his youth, Jordan more recently became one of the most dominant track athletes of all time, as a sprinter, in senior divisions. Letters to God is a 2010 American Christian drama film directed by David Nixon and starring Robyn Lively, Jeffrey Johnson, Tanner Maguire, Michael Bolten and Bailee Madison. The story was written by Patrick Doughtie about his son Tyler, with the screenplay penned by Doughtie, Art D'Alessandro, Sandra Thrift and Cullen Douglas. The story took place in Nashville, Tennessee, but the movie was filmed in the Orlando, Florida area.
