Tanya Ragir

Tanya Ragir is an American contemporary sculptor, born in Los Angeles in 1955. [1] She is best known for her sculptures centered on the nude feminine figure, sensually juxtaposing the feminine landscape with geometric forms. She sculpts in clay, the pieces being later fired or cast in bronze, aluminum, stainless steel and resin. [2] [3] [4]

Career

Ragir received a Bachelor's Degree in Sculpture and Dance from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1976. After creating fully three-dimensional pieces for many years, her recent work is rich in shallow wall sculptures. [5] Ragir´s works have been featured in several motion pictures; most notably in Meet the Fockers (2004) [6] and in Mannequin (1987). [7] She is an elected member of the National Sculpture Society [8] and also a member of the International Sculpture Center, [9] and the Southern California Women´s Caucus for Art. [10] Among many honors, Ragir received a Certificate of Excellence in Sculpture in the California Art Club 101ST Annual Gold Medal Awards (2014). [11]

Alison Saar is a Los Angeles, California based sculptor, mixed-media, and installation artist. Her artwork focuses on the African diaspora and black female identity and is influenced by African, Caribbean, and Latin American folk art and spirituality. Saar is well known for "transforming found objects to reflect themes of cultural and social identity, history, and religion."

Mark Manders is a Dutch artist, currently living and working in Ronse, Belgium. His work consists mainly of installations, drawings and sculptures. He is probably best known for his large bronze figures that look like rough-hewn, wet or peeling clay. Typical of his work is also the arrangement of random objects, such as tables, chairs, light bulbs, blankets and dead animals.

The California Art Club (CAC) is one of the oldest and most active arts organizations in California. Founded in December 1909, it celebrated its centennial in 2009 and into the spring of 2010. The California Art Club originally evolved out of The Painters Club of Los Angeles, a short-lived group that lasted from 1906–09. The new organization was more inclusive, as it accepted women, sculptors and out-of-state artists.

Tanya Bonakdar Gallery is an art gallery founded by Tanya Bonakdar, located in both Chelsea in New York City and Los Angeles. The New York City location is at 521 W. 21st Street and the Los Angeles gallery is located at 1010 N. Highland Avenue.

LAB ART | LA Street Art Gallery is located on South La Brea Avenue, in Los Angeles, California. It is the largest art gallery dedicated to street art and graffiti in the United States, spanning 6,500 square feet of space. In June 2018 it was announced that UK based entrepreneur Darren Manley had purchased the gallery from founder Iskander Lemseffer.

Cassils is a performance artist, body builder, and personal trainer from Montreal, Quebec, Canada now based in Los Angeles, California, United States. Their work uses the body in a sculptural fashion, integrating feminism, body art, and gay male aesthetics. Cassils is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Creative Capital Grant, a United States Artists Fellowship, a California Community Foundation Visual Artist Fellowship (2012), several Canada Council for the Arts grants, and the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Visual Arts Fellowship. Cassils is gender non-conforming, transmasculine, and goes by singular they pronouns.

Young Joon Kwak is an artist and musician based in Los Angeles. Much of their work focuses on queer bodies, how they have been represented in art history, and how they form communities. They have exhibited and performed at art museums around the world. Kwak is the lead singer in the band Xina Xurner, and a founding member of the collective Mutant Salon.

Nina de Creeft Ward is an American artist who works with bronze, soft sculptures, etchings, woodcuts, and monoprints. She had multiple art exhibitions in the Philippines and the United States. Ward was the co-winner of the Individual Artists Award for Works in Clay in 2006 from the Santa Barbara Arts Fund. Most of Ward's work has to do with animals, including a 1998 exhibition of art that resembled endangered and extinct species. She has taught students such as at the University of Northern Iowa. Her clay animal models are made with raku ware.
