Surat is a city in the western Indian state of Gujarat. The word Surat directly translates to face in Urdu, Gujarati and Hindi. Located on the banks of the river Tapti near its confluence with the Arabian Sea, it used to be a large seaport. It is now the commercial and economic centre of South Gujarat, and one of the largest urban areas of western India. It has well-established diamond and textile industry, and is a major supply centre for apparels and accessories. About 90% of the world's diamonds are cut and polished in Surat. It is the second largest city in Gujarat after Ahmedabad and the eighth largest city by population and ninth largest urban agglomeration in India. It is the administrative capital of the Surat district.
Nashik, Marathi: [naːʃik], formerly Nasik) is a city in the northern region of the Indian state of Maharashtra. Situated on the banks of the river Godavari. The population of Nashik city is around 2.2 million and is emerging as one of the fastest-growing cities in India. Nashik is located about 165 km (103 mi) northeast of the state capital Mumbai, and about 210 km (130 mi) north of Pune. The Mumbai-Pune-Nashik region is called the "Golden Triangle of Maharashtra". With its high agricultural production, Nashik is dubbed the Napa Valley of India and the "Wine Capital of India" as more than half of India's vineyards and wineries are located here. Around 90% of all Indian wine comes from the Nashik Valley. Nashik is one of the Hindu pilgrimage sites of the Kumbh Mela, which is held every 12 years.
Sabarmati Riverfront is a waterfront being developed along the banks of Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad, India. Proposed in the 1960s, the construction began in 2005. Since 2012, under Phase 1, the waterfront has been gradually opened to public as facilities are constructed; various facilities are under construction. The major objectives of project are environment improvement, social infrastructure and sustainable development. Phase 2 was approved in 2020.

The extended metro line from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi, including the Bund Garden, Kalyani Nagar and Ramwadi metro stations, covering a distance of 6 km, was inaugrated on 6 March 2024. The 16.59 km (10.31 mi) Purple Line from PCMC Bhavan to Swargate runs on an elevated viaduct between PCMC Bhavan to Range Hills, from where it goes underground. The Aqua Line runs from Vanaz to Ramwadi covering a distance of 14.66 km (9.11 mi) on an elevated viaduct. The 23.33 km (14.50 mi) elevated Line 3 will run from the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi via Balewadi to Civil Court. All three lines will align at the Civil Court interchange station.
Calcutta Riverside is a satellite township development across 106 hectares being developed by Riverbank Developers Pvt. Ltd. in joint venture with Bata India Limited planned on the banks of the Hooghly River in Greater Kolkata. The planned township falls in Batanagar in South 24 Parganas district, India. Riverbank Holdings the operating company has finalised a funding of Rs 117.60 crore for the IT SEZ portion of this project on the outskirts of Kolkata.
Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is the local civic body responsible for the administration of Surat, Gujarat which has come into being under the Bombay Provincial Municipal Act, 1949. The Surat Municipal Corporation was established on 2 October 1966. Surat Municipal Corporation area 462.149 sq km. It carries out all the obligatory functions and discretionary functions entrusted by the BPMC Act, 1949 with the following mission.
Katargam is a suburb in Surat city and host of the world famous Surat diamond industry. Today Katargam is one of the best developed areas in Surat city and also boasts of diamond industries. It is home to the upper middle class of the city's residents. The area is also known as dense Concrete Jungle. It was a Nagar Panchayat in 1970s but was later amalgamated in Surat Municipal Corporation. Due to the development of Diamond Industries in the town it spurred growth in population and its population is around 0.7 million as of 2008 estimates. The majority of the population is from Saurastra also known as Katiyawad. The town has grown in size in the year 2006 with an amalgamation of municipalities of Amroli, Chapprabhatta, Kosad. It has a very famous riverside view called Cause Way which is developed on the bank of river Tapi. Surat city has been developed mainly due to River Tapi.
The Ukai Dam, constructed across the Tapti River, is the second largest reservoir in Gujarat after the Sardar Sarovar. It is also known as Vallabh Sagar. Constructed in 1972, the dam is meant for irrigation, power generation and flood control. Having a catchment area of about 62,225 km2 and a water spread of about 52,000 hectares, its capacity is almost the same as that of the Bhakra Nangal Dam. The site is located 94 km from Surat.
Pune Ring Road or Pune inner ring road is one of the three ring roads planned for construction in and around the city of Pune, India. Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority claimed that the road will decrease traffic congestion and provide better access to the fastest growing areas. The road will be 173 km long and will service twenty-nine villages by connecting all highways around the city. The cost is estimated at ₹104.08 billion (US$1.2 billion). The other two ring roads are MSRDC ring road and High-capacity mass transit route.
Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) or Mumbai–Ahmedabad HSR is an under-construction high-speed rail line, which will connect Mumbai, the financial hub of India, with Ahmedabad, the largest city in the state of Gujarat. When completed, it will be India's first high-speed rail line.
The Surat Metro is an under-construction rapid transit rail system for Surat in the Surat Metropolitan Region, Gujarat state of India. Two corridors with a combined length of 40.35 kilometers are under construction since 18 January 2021. The project is expected to be completed by December 2027 at an estimated cost of ₹12,020.32 crore (US$1.4 billion).
Diamond Research and Mercantile City, also known as DREAM City, is an upcoming business district in Surat, Gujarat, India. It will be built on 810 hectares of land near Khajod, along the lines of the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City and Dholera Smart city near Ahmedabad. Expected to open in 2030, it will be Gujarat's third smart city.
Gopi Talav or Gopi Lake is a lake in the Gopipura locality in the city of Surat in Gujarat state of India. It was built circa 1510 CE by Malik Gopi, who was an affluent merchant and governor of Surat during the Gujarat Sultanate. In 2012, the lake was renovated by Surat Municipal Corporation and the area surrounding redeveloped as a recreational facility.
Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC) was a special purpose vehicle owned by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), Ircon International and RITES. All three companies are owned by the Indian Ministry of Railways. IRSDC was incorporated on 12 April 2012.

Morarji Desai Setu is a weir-cum-causeway on the Tapi River in Surat, Gujarat, India. It connects Rander and Katargam neighbourhoods. It was built in 1995 at an approximate cost of ₹35 crore.
Smart Cities Mission, along with Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation and Urban Housing Mission was launched on 25 June 2015 under the leadership of Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Smart City Mission is one of the pet projects of Government of India wherein the Government is aspiring to create 100 Smart cities in time to come. Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is selected for the list of 98 smart cities declared by the Government of India for the expansion of Smart Cities Mission. Surat was selected in the first round of selected 20 Smart Cities and has implemented the largest number of projects under Smart City Mission. It received an award from Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India for its work in the areas of urban environment, mobility, transport and sustainable integrated development. The objective of Surat Smart City is 'To promote cities that provide core infrastructure and provide a decent quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment and the application of 'Smart Solutions'. Surat Smart City Development Limited (SSCDL) was formed as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the implementation of the Smart City projects at the city level. Surat Smart City Development Limited was incorporated on 31 March 2016.
