Tatu Mussa Ntimizi is a former Member of Parliament in the Tanzanian National Assembly who represented the constituency of Igalula in the Uyui District of the Tabora Region. She is a member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi revolutionary party. [1]
From 1990 to 1995,Ntimizi served as a special-seat MP in the National Assembly. A total of 113 of these special seats are available in the assembly,and are reserved for female representatives to ensure a certain percentage of the assembly consists of women. [2] After her term ended,however,Ntimizi ran for and won a constituency seat in the 1995 general election. [3] In the 2000 and 2005 elections,she successfully won reelection for a second and third time. [1] [4] At that time,she was one of 17 women holding constituency seats,and one of 9 women who had previously been special-seat members. [3]

Ntimizi served as the Deputy Minister of Lands and Human Settlements Development under Minister Gideon Cheyo. She was in the cabinet of former Tanzanian president Benjamin Mkapa. [5] In 1999,President Mkapa shifted many of his ministers to new positions,and Ntimizi assumed the position of Deputy Minister of Health. [6] In that position Ntimizi reported to have officially announced the cessation of Tanzania importing the anti-malaria drug chloroquine as a result of growing resistance to the drug in malaria-causing parasites. [7]
In the 2010 general election,Ntimizi chose not to run for office again in order to allow younger members of her party the opportunity to run for her seat. Athuman Rajab Mfutakamba,another member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi,ran for and won her seat in the 2010 general elections. [4]
The politics of Tanzania takes place in a framework of a unitary presidential democratic republic,whereby the President of Tanzania is both head of state and head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The party system is dominated by the Chama Cha Mapinduzi. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.
Elections in Tanzania occur on both the local and national levels. The local government holds elections for street or village chair people. General elections at the national level elect the President and the members of the National Assembly. The president is elected for a five-year term.
Abdallah Said Fundikira III was the Ntemi (chief) of Unyanyembe 1957–1962/2007,when he was deposed by the Tanzanian government. He died as a member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi party.
General elections were held in Tanzania on 14 December 2005. Originally scheduled for 30 October,the elections were postponed due to the death of CHADEMA vice-presidential candidate Jumbe Mohamed Jumbe. The elections were the third since the country returned to multi-party rule in 1992. Incumbent President Benjamin Mkapa stepped down after two consecutive terms in accordance with the constitution. Elections for the Presidency of Zanzibar and its House of Representatives took place on 30 October,as scheduled.

Cyril August Chami was a Tanzanian CCM politician and Member of Parliament for the Moshi Rural constituency from 2005 to 2015.
Samuel John Sitta was a Tanzanian CCM politician and Member of Parliament for Urambo East of Tabora Region. He was the Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania from December 2005 to 2010 and Minister of East African Cooperation from 2010 to 2015.
General elections were held in Tanzania on 29 October 2000,with sixteen constituencies in Zanzibar voting again on 5 November due to problems with distributing election material. The second general elections since the restoration of multi-party democracy in 1992,they were won by the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi party,which claimed 202 of the 231 constituency seats in the National Assembly,and whose candidate,Benjamin Mkapa,won the presidential election.
