Team DK was a Chinese esports organization that fielded Dota 2 , Heroes of the Storm and StarCraft II teams. The Dota 2 team finished 4th at The International 2014. [1] It folded in November 2015 citing difficulty competing with more well-financed teams. [2]

Esports is a form of competition using video games. Esports often takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional players, individually or as teams. Although organized competitions have long been a part of video game culture, these were largely between amateurs until the late 2000s, when participation by professional gamers and spectatorship in these events through live streaming saw a large surge in popularity. By the 2010s, esports was a significant factor in the video game industry, with many game developers actively designing and providing funding for tournaments and other events.

<i>Dota 2</i> 2013 video game

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game developed and published by Valve. The game is a sequel to Defense of the Ancients (DotA), which was a community-created mod for Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.Dota 2 is played in matches between two teams of five players, with each team occupying and defending their own separate base on the map. Each of the ten players independently controls a powerful character, known as a "hero". There are currently 122 possible heroes to choose from, each with unique abilities and differing styles of play. During a match players collect experience points and items for their heroes to successfully defeat the opposing team's heroes in player versus player combat. A team wins by being the first to destroy the other team's "Ancient", a large structure located within their base.

Natus Vincere, abbreviated NAVI, is an esports organization based in Kyiv, Ukraine. Founded in 2009, the organization has teams and players competing in various games, such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, FIFA, World of Tanks, Paladins, League of Legends: Wild Rift, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Apex Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Fortnite, and VALORANT.

The International (<i>Dota 2</i>) Annual Dota 2 esports tournament

The International is an annual esports world championship tournament for the video game Dota 2, hosted and produced by the game's developer, Valve. The International was first held at Gamescom as a promotional event for the game in 2011, and has since been held annually with the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament consists of 20 teams; 12 based on final results from the Dota Pro Circuit and six more from winning regional playoffs from the North America, South America, Southeast Asia, China, Eastern Europe, and Western Europe regions.

Invictus Gaming Chinese esports organization

Invictus Gaming is a Chinese multi-game esports organization founded in 2011 by businessman Wang Sicong. They are primarily known for their Dota 2, League of Legends, and StarCraft II teams. IG's Dota team won The International 2012, and its League of Legends team won the 2018 World Championship.

The International 2014 2014 esports tournament

The International 2014 (TI4) was the fourth edition of The International, an annual esports Dota 2 championship tournament, which took place at the KeyArena in Seattle. Hosted by Valve, the tournament began on July 8 with the Playoffs phase and closed on July 21 with the Grand Final. The 2014 edition of The International featured nineteen Dota 2 professional gaming teams that competed for a Grand Prize of over US$5.0 million. Overall, US$10.93 million were awarded at the event, making it the largest esports event by prize money until it was topped by the next International.

Xu Zhilei, known by his in-game tag BurNIng, is a Chinese professional gamer. He has played both Defense of the Ancients and Dota 2 professionally, and he is considered one of the best carry players in the history of Dota. In 2012, IceFrog, the developer of DotA and Dota 2, honored BurNIng by naming his signature hero Anti-Mage after him in the original Dota game. In September 2018, he founded a new team called "Team Aster".

Alliance (esports) European esports organization

Alliance is a professional gaming and esports organization based in Sweden that was formed in April 2013. They have teams in TrackMania, Dota 2, Hearthstone, the Super Smash Bros. series and Fortnite, and previously had teams in League of Legends and StarCraft II.

Complexity Gaming

Complexity Gaming, formerly stylized as compLexity, is an American esports franchise headquartered in Frisco, Texas. The franchise was founded in 2003 by Jason Lake and is co-owned by Lake, real estate investor John Goff, and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Complexity operates out of the Gamestop Performance Center, an esports training facility in The Star. The franchise competes in Apex Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, FIFA, Fortnite, Hearthstone, Madden, Magic: The Gathering Arena, Rocket League, and Valorant. Complexity formerly competed in several other games, including Call of Duty, DOTA 2, Heroes of the Storm, and League of Legends. In addition to competitive teams, Complexity also maintains Limit, a World of Warcraft guild, and streams gaming sessions over Twitch.

Vici Gaming

Vici Gaming (VG) is a Chinese professional esports organization based in Shanghai. It has teams competing in Dota 2, League of Legends, StarCraft II, WarCraft III, FIFA, Hearthstone and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Vici Gaming's Dota 2 team has been a top contender in numerous tournaments, most notably as runners-up of The International 2014.

s4 (gamer)

Gustav Magnusson, better known as s4, is a Swedish professional Dota 2 player for Alliance. As a member of Alliance, s4 won The International 2013.

Virtus.pro Russian esports organization

Virtus.pro (VP) is an esports organization based in Russia. Founded in 2003, the organization currently has players competing in such games as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Rainbow Six Siege, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Starcraft II, Hearthstone, Paladins, Quake Champions and Heroes Of The Storm. In November 2015, the team got an investment of over US$100,000,000 from Alisher Usmanov's USM Holdings. Since 2015 Virtus.pro is a part of the ESforce esports holding.

Artour Babaev, better known as Arteezy, is a Canadian professional Dota 2 player for Evil Geniuses. He is also one of the most popular streamers among the community.

OG (esports) Esports organisation

OG is a professional esports organisation based in Europe. Formed in 2015, they are best known for their Dota 2 team who won The International 2018 and 2019 tournaments. They also have teams representing other games, such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Valorant.

The International 2016 2016 esports tournament

The International 2016 (TI6) was the sixth iteration of The International, an annual Dota 2 esports championship tournament. Hosted by Valve Corporation, the game's developer, the tournament began in June 2016 with the qualifier phase and ended after the main event at the KeyArena in Seattle in August. The tournament awarded the biggest prize pool in esports history at over $20 million, surpassing the record set at the previous International, with the champion team, Wings Gaming, winning over $9 million.

Wings Gaming Chinese esports organization

Wings Gaming was a Chinese Dota 2 esports team based in Chongqing. They were best known for winning over US$9 million at The International 2016 (TI6), which was one of the most lucrative esports tournaments in history. Wings were founded in the aftermath of post-The International 2014 roster shuffles in China, with the TI6 winning roster being put together in August 2015.

The Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) is a professional tournament format system of Dota 2, a competitive five-on-five video game. It was introduced in 2017 by the game's developer, Valve, to determine which teams are eligible to obtain a direct invitation to The International, the premier annual tournament for the game produced by them. The DPC replaced the former Dota Major Championship series (2015–2016), which was criticized due to Valve's non-transparent and unpredictable nature for handing out International invitations.

LGD Gaming

LGD Gaming is a Chinese professional esports organization based in Hangzhou. It is one of the oldest esports organizations in China and currently has players competing in Dota 2, Honor of Kings, League of Legends, Overwatch, and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

Kuro Salehi Takhasomi, better known as KuroKy, is a German-Iranian professional Dota 2 player for Nigma Galaxy. He was a member of Team Liquid that won The International 2017.
