Tech CU Arena is a multi-purpose arena in San Jose, California. It is the home of the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League (AHL).
In January 2020, the San Jose City Council voted unanimously to approve the 200,000 square-foot expansion of Sharks Ice San Jose, [1] adding two additional recreational ice sheets to the facility, increasing the building's total ice sheets to six and doubling the facility's footprint to just under 400,000 square feet. The expansion will make Sharks Ice at San Jose the largest ice facility in the United States, and will include a focus on green building initiatives including high efficiency LED lighting, electric Zamboni, and electric vehicle chargers. [2] On March 15, 2022, Technology Credit Union took over the naming rights in a deal that would last until at least 2032. [3]
The arena opened on August 24, 2022, with the first game on Saturday, October 8, 2022, an exhibition game against the Bakersfield Condors. [4]
On May 11, 2022, it was announced that the Tech CU Arena would host the 2024 AHL All Star Classic. The game took place on Monday, February 5, 2024. [5]

Roy A. Sommer is an American ice hockey coach and a former professional ice hockey player, who currently serves as the head coach for the Wenatchee Wild of the Western Hockey League. Sommer played three games for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League during the 1980–81 season, before spending the rest of his playing career, which lasted from 1977 to 1987, in the minor leagues. He was the head coach of the American Hockey League's San Jose Barracuda from 1998 to 2019 and from 2020 to 2022. The Barracuda, the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, has also been known as the Kentucky Thoroughblades, Cleveland Barons, Worcester Sharks throughout his tenure. The largest ice rink facility in the Western United States, Solar4America Ice serves as the official training facility for the NHL San Jose Sharks and the home arena for San Jose State University's Spartans hockey team. The facility opened in 1994 and was expanded in 2000 and 2005. Roofing contractor PetersenDean bought naming rights to the facility in 2016, renaming the facility after its Solar4America solar roofing brand. After PetersenDean's bankruptcy in 2020, the name reverted to Sharks Ice
