Robert Burns is a politician from Arizona. He is a former member of the Arizona Corporation Commission. Prior to that,he served in the Arizona State Senate,where in his final term,he was also elected as the President of the Senate. Before that he served six terms in the Arizona House of Representatives.
James Weiers was a Republican member of the Arizona Senate and the Arizona House of Representatives,representing various Arizona Legislative Districts. He was initially elected to the House in 1994,where he served as one of the two District 16 representatives from January 1995 through January 2003. In 2002,he ran and won the seat for the Arizona State Senate for District 10,which was similar to the prior District 16 after redistricting. He served in the Senate for one term,from January 2003 through January 2005. In 2004,he ran successfully for the House,again in District 10. He was re-elected three more times to represent the House,serving from January 2005 through January 2013. He served twice as Speaker of the House,the first time from 2001–2002,and the second time from 2005–2009.
Carolyn Allen was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives and the Arizona State Senate from 1994 through 2011.She was first elected to the Arizona House in November 1992,where she represented District 28. She was subsequently re-elected three times to the House,always representing District 29. After serving four terms in the House,the Arizona Constitution prevented Allen from running for a fifth term. She ran for the Arizona Senate in 2002 in District 8,which was new due to redistricting in the state. She won the election and won re-election 3 more times to serve as the State Senator from District 8.
Pete Rios was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives and the Arizona Senate,serving two stretches in the Senate and a single term in the House. He first ran,unsuccessfully,for the House in 1980. In 1982 he ran for the State Senate,winning the seat from Arizona's 7th District. He won re-election in 1984,1986,1988,1990,and 1992. He served as the Senate President during the 40th Legislature from 1991–1992. In 1994,he did not run for re-election to the Senate,instead choosing to run for the Arizona Secretary of State,a bid for which he was unsuccessful. In 1996 Rios once again ran for the Senate,regaining his seat in District 7. He won election three times,the first two in 1998 and 2000 to District,and then to District 23 in 2002,after re-districting. In 2004,due to Arizona's term limit laws,Rios was unable to run again for the Senate,and chose to run for the House seat from District 23,which he won. He won re-election in 2006. He did not run for re-election in 2008.
Marian McClure is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives,initially representing the 9th District before redistricting in 2002 moved her to the 30th District. She was first elected to the House in November 2000. She won re-election in 2002,2004,and 2006. Due to Arizona term limits,she was ineligible to run for re-election in 2008. Instead,she ran for the Arizona State Senate,where she lost in the Republican primary to incumbent Frank Antenori,who went on to re-election in the general election.
Linda Aguirre is a former member of the Arizona State Senate and the Arizona House of Representatives,initially representing the 23rd District before redistricting in 2002 moved her to the 16th District. She was first elected to the House in November 1992. She won re-election to the House in 1994 and 1996.
Robert Cannell is a pediatrician who was a member of the Arizona State Senate and the Arizona House of Representatives. He was first elected to the House in November 2000,representing District 5. After redistricting in 2002,he won re-election to the House in District 24. However,when Herb Guenther,who had won the State Senate seat,did not take the oath of office,Cannell was appointed by Yuma County Board of Supervisors to replace him. Cannell won re-election to the Senate in 2004. He did not run for re-election in 2006.
Theodore Wayne Carpenter was an American politician who served as a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from 1999 until 2007. He was first elected to the House in November 1998,representing District 19,and was re-elected in 2000. After redistricting in 2002,Carpenter was again re-elected in both 2002 and 2004,now representing District 6. Not eligible to run for the House in 2006 due to Arizona's term limits,he ran for the Arizona State Senate,but lost to Pamela Gorman in the Republican primary. Gorman went on to win the general election.
Cheryl Chase is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives from January 2001 until January 2007. She was first elected to the House in November 2000,representing District 7. After redistricting in 2002,Chase was reelected in both 2002,now representing District 23,and 2004. Chase did not run for re-election to the House in 2006,instead choosing to run for the Arizona State Senate. She lost in the general election to Rebecca Rios.
Sylvia Laughter was an American politician who was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from January 1999 until January 2005. She was the first Navajo woman to serve in the Arizona legislature,as well as the first and only politically independent legislator to serve in the state legislature since Arizona's statehood in 1912.
Ernest Bustmante is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives from January 2003 until January 2005,representing the newly redistricted District 23. He ran for re-election in 2004 along with Cheryl Chase,but was defeated in the Democrat primary by Pete Rios. In 2008 he ran again for the House in District 23,and won the Democrat primary along with Barbara McGuire. However,while McGuire won,Bustamante lost in the general election to Frank Pratt. He again ran in 2010,and won the Democrat primary,along with McGuire,but in the general election they both lost to Pratt and John Fillmore. He ran once again in 2012,this time in District 8,after redistricting. He and Emily Verdugo won the Democrat primary,but they both lost in the general election,to Pratt and T. J. Shope.
John Loredo is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives from January 1997 until January 2005. Prior to running for the Arizona House,he ran unsuccessfully for the Phoenix City Council in 1992. In 1994 he worked on the unsuccessful campaign for governor of Eddie Basha Jr. He was first elected to the House in November 1996,representing District 22,and was re-elected to that same district in 1998 and 2000. After redistricting in 2002,he ran unopposed for re-election in District 13,along with fellow Democrat Steve Gallardo.
Jim Carruthers is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives from January 1997 until January 2005. He was first elected to the House in November 1996,representing District 5,and was re-elected to that same district in 1998 and 2000. After redistricting in 2002,he ran for re-election in District 24 and won. Due to Arizona's term limit law,he was unable to run for re-election in 2004.
Herb Guenther was an American politician who was a member of both the Arizona House of Representatives and the Arizona State Senate. He served in the House from January 1987 until January 1993. He was first elected to the House in November 1986,representing District 5,and was re-elected in 1990 and 1992. In 1998 he ran for the Arizona Senate,and was elected,representing District 5. He won re-election to the Senate in 2000,but did not run for re-election in 2002. He died on December 17,2021,at the age of 80.
Ramon Valadez is a former member of both the Arizona House of Representatives and the Arizona State Senate. He served in the House from January 1997 until January 2001,and in the Senate from January 2001 through January 2003. He was first elected to the House in November 1996,representing District 10,and was re-elected in 1998. In 2000,Valadez ran for the State Senate seat in the same district and won. He ran for re-election in 2002,in the newly redistricted District 29,and won. He did not take the oath of office in January 2003,and was replaced by Victor Soltero.
Susan Gerard is a former member of both the Arizona State Senate and the Arizona House of Representatives. She served in the House from January 1989 until January 2001,and in the Senate from January 2001 through January 2003. She was first elected to the House in November 1988,representing District 18,and was re-elected five times,in 1990,1992,1994,1996,and 1998. In 2000 she ran for the State Senate seat in the same district and won. After redistricting in 2002,she ran for re-election in District 11,but lost in the Republican primary to Barbara Leff.
Joe Eddie Lopez is a former member of both the Arizona State Senate and the Arizona House of Representatives. He served in the House from January 1989 until January 2001,and in the Senate from January 2001 through January 2003. She was first elected to the House in November 1990,representing District 22,and was re-elected in 1992 and 1994. In 1996 he ran for the State Senate from the district,and won. He was re-elected in 1998 and 2000. He did not run for re-election in 2002.
Thomas C. Smith was a member of both the Arizona State Senate and the Arizona House of Representatives. He served in the House from January 1993 until January 1999,and in the Senate from January 1999 through January 2003. He was first elected to the House in November 1992,representing District 26,and was re-elected in 1994 and 1996. In 1998 he ran for the State Senate from the same district,and won. He was re-elected in 2000. He did not run for re-election in 2002.
Kathi Foster is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives. She served in the House from January 1995 through January 2003,serving district 14. Not eligible to run for the House in 2002,due to Arizona term limit laws,she ran for the State Senate in the newly redistricted District 13,but lost in the Democrat primary to Richard Miranda. She ran again for the Senate in 2004,this time in District 12,but lost in the general election to incumbent Robert Blendu.
