Edward Lawrence Rudd (born 28 September 1944) is an English former international rugby union player.
A Liverpool native, Rudd attended St Edward's College and during his three year's with their first XV earned Lancashire Schoolboys representative honours. He undertook further studies at Wadham College, Oxford. [1]
Rudd, a speedy winger, became the first player to score a try against the 1963–64 All Blacks when he turned out for Oxford University in the tour's opening fixture. An Oxford blue, Rudd scored two tries in the 1964 Varsity match and had a third disallowed. He also played rugby for the Liverpool Football Club. [2]
Capped six times by England, Rudd came into the side for the 1965 Five Nations and missed only the France fixture, due to suspected appendicitis. He made a further three appearances in the 1965 Five Nations. [3]

Cecil Halliday Abercrombie was a Scottish international rugby union player, first-class cricketer, and an officer in the Royal Navy. Abercrombie passed out from the Britannia Royal Naval College into the Royal Navy in 1902, and shortly thereafter he served abord HMS Hyacinth in the British campaign in Somaliland, being part of the force that captured "Mullah" Hassan's stronghold in 1904. He would later serve aboard HMS Defence at the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916, during which he was killed in action.

The 1940–41 Northern Rugby Football Union season was the second season of the English rugby league’s Wartime Emergency League necessitated by the Second World War. After doubts that the season might not start, matches were played in a league organised in a similar way to the previous season with two regional leagues, Yorkshire and Lancashire, with the winners of each league meeting in a two-legged play-off final to determine the overall champions.
The 1941–42 Northern Rugby Football Union season was the third season of the rugby league’s Wartime Emergency League necessitated by the Second World War. With fewer clubs than the previous season the Rugby Football League (RFL) decided to amalgamate the two county leagues into one joint league. The season started with 18 clubs but finished with 17 after Broughton Rangers withdrew in January 1942. The single division championship was won by Dewsbury, who had finished the season in first position and then defeated Bradford Northern in the play-off final.

He won 7 caps for England between 1907 and 1911, notably scoring 5 tries on debut against France, and 22 points in another match against France. Lambert was all round sportsman: he was a scratch golfer, played football (soccer) for Corinthian Casuals, and kept wicket (cricket) for Hertforshire. He was killed in action at the Battle of Loos on 13 October 1915.
