Teddy Nambooze

Teddy Nambooze is a Ugandan accountant and a legislator. [1] She serves as the elected Woman Member of Parliament for Mpigi district in Uganda's 11th parliament. Politically she is affiliated to National Unity Platform (NUP) [2] under whose ticket she contested in the 2021 general elections. [3]

Background and education

Nambooze was born in Ggoli a village in Kammengo sub-county [4] along Kampala-Masaka road in Mpigi district. She attended St. Bruno Secondary School Ggoli in Kammengo sub-county for her high school education. Nambooze studied a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration at Nkumba University, Entebbe, [5] [ circular reference ] in Uganda in 2002. [3]

Work experience

Nambooze worked as a data entry at the Ministry of Education before joining the Hunger project in Kalamba sub-county in Butamabala district, the project was intended to teach teach women in the area financial skills to alleviate poverty. The project set up a SACCO. Due to her hard work, Nambooze was appointed the SACCO manager.

In 2011, Nambooze started up a bank in the names Trust Development Initiative (TRUDI) where she currently serves as the director. In 2016, she contested on the Mpigi district woman MP, unfortunately results were not her favor. [6] In 2021, Nambooze came back to contest on the same position and this time round emerged the winner. She is currently a legislator in the Parliament of Uganda [1] serving as the Woman member of Parliament elect for Mpigi district. [7]

National Unity Platform Ugandan political party

The National Unity Platform, formerly the National Unity, Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP), is a social-liberal and progressive political party in Uganda led by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu. The NURP was led by Moses Nkonge Kibalama from December 2004 until July 2020. On 14 July 2020, Kyagulanyi assumed leadership of the party and was declared the party flag-bearer in the upcoming January 2021 Ugandan presidential elections.

Veronica Namaganda Nanyondo is a Ugandan politician who represents Bukomansimbi District. She belongs to National Unity Platform (NUP). Nanyondo began her political career in December 2015 under the Democratic Party(DP) ticket after being inspired by her sister Suzan Namaganda who died in road accident. Nanyondo is currently a woman MP for Bukomansimbi district who garnered 23,815 votes that made her a victor. She was interested in contesting for the position of Women MP because she wanted to build on what her late sister had started and thought that she was the right person to replace her.

Ndamira Catherine Atwikiire is an Ugandan accountant, legislator and business woman. She was re-elected into the 11th parliament of Uganda as a district woman representative for Kabale District which is the Kigezi sub-region under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party. Janepher Mbabazi Kyomuhendo is a Ugandan accountant by profession who also served as the District Woman Representative for Kagadi District in the 10th parliament of Uganda. She was affiliated with the National Resistance Movement (NRM). She was also re-elected as the as the District Woman Representative for Kagadi District in the 11th parliament of Uganda.

Florence Namayanja is a female Ugandan politician who was district woman representative of Bukoto County East, Masaka District. She was affiliated to the Democratic Party political party and now affiliated to National Unity Platform. In the 11th Parliament, she stood as the Candidate for LC5 Chairperson for Masaka City under the National Unity Platform although she lost the elections. She was the winner of Masaka city mayoral seat after defeating seven candidates including business tycoon, Emmanuel Lwasa with 28,824 votes.

Flavia Nabagabe Kalule, is a Ugandan teacher, Inter-parliamentary union representative, women's rights activist and woman member of parliament for Kassanda district in the 11th parliament of the Republic of Uganda. She is chairperson of the women’s league at National Unity Platform(NUP) party also known as People Power.
