Thurles is a town in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of same name in the barony of Eliogarty and in the ecclesiastical parish of Thurles. The cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly is located in the town.
Baron Templemore, of Templemore in the County of Donegal, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, since 1975 a subsidiary title of the Marquessate of Donegall. It was created on 10 September 1831 for Arthur Chichester, Member of Parliament for Milborne Port and County Wexford. He was the son of Lord Spencer Stanley Chichester, third son of Arthur Chichester, 1st Marquess of Donegall. Lord Templemore's son, the second Baron, and grandson, the third Baron, both served as Deputy Lieutenants of County Wexford. The latter was succeeded by his eldest son, the fourth Baron. He served as the Government Chief Whip in the House of Lords between 1940 and 1945. He was succeeded by his second but eldest surviving son, the fifth Baron. It was named after the town of Tipperary and consisted of 48% of the land area of the traditional county of Tipperary. North Tipperary County Council was the local authority for the county. In 2011, the population of the county was 70,322. It was abolished on 3 June 2014, merged with South Tipperary under a new Tipperary County Council.

McCan Barracks is the site of two agents of the Irish state: the Garda Síochána College and the Defence Forces. It is located in Templemore, County Tipperary, Ireland. It is named after Pierce McCan who fought in the Irish War of Independence. It took on the role as the national centre for training the Garda Síochána - Ireland's police force - in 1964 when Garda Headquarters in the Phoenix Park ceased to perform that role. The barracks is home to a unit of the Irish Army Reserve and also houses a small detachment of the regular defence forces.
