Temra Costa is a regenerative-land stewardship advocate and author known for promoting the integration of sustainable food systems, ecological forestry, and the circular economy. She also directs programs aiming to support local economies, restore ecosystems and preserve rural working landscapes. [1]

Costa earned her B.S. in International Agriculture and Natural Resource Management from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She then moved to California in 2003 where she led statewide campaigns to promote local food systems and sustainable agriculture. Her book Farmer Jane: Women Changing the Way We Eat brought national attention to women’s leadership in food and farming. [2] [3] [4]

In more recent years, Temra co-founded and now directs Regenerative Forest Solutions, a nonprofit devoted to building the “forest-stewardship economy” in Sonoma County and beyond. [5] [1] She co-owns a 150-acre mixed conifer forest and mixed agricultural use property in Sonoma County and has advanced projects in carbon sequestration, wood utilization, wildfire resilience, and land-owner education. She also serves on the board of the Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District. [1] [6] [7]
