The 2016–17 Zimbabwe Tri-Series was a One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament that was held in Zimbabwe in November 2016. It was a tri-nation series between the national representative cricket teams of Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and the West Indies. The Sri Lankan team were originally scheduled to tour Zimbabwe for two Tests, three ODIs and one Twenty20 International (T20I). However, the ODIs and T20I were replaced by this tri-series.
The West Indies cricket team toured Zimbabwe in October and November 2017 to play two Tests matches for the Clive Lloyd Trophy. The teams last played a Test match against each other in March 2013. Ahead of the Test series, the two teams also played a three-day warm-up fixture. The series marked the international comebacks of Brendan Taylor and Kyle Jarvis, after their resignation from their Kolpak deals. West Indies won the series 1–0, after the final match finished in a draw. It was the first Test series win for the West Indies with Jason Holder as captain, and the first time that Zimbabwe had drawn a Test match since playing Bangladesh in January 2005.

The Rising Stars were a Zimbabwean first-class cricket team that was formed in 2017. They played their home matches at Takashinga Cricket Club, Highfield, Harare. The team was founded by Zimbabwe's former Test cricket captain Tatenda Taibu. They played in Zimbabwe's domestic cricket competitions, starting with the 2017–18 Logan Cup.
The 2013–14 Pro50 Championship was the twelfth edition of the Pro50 Championship, a List A cricket tournament in Zimbabwe. The competition began on 7 December 2013 and the final was played on 30 April 2014.
The Sri Lanka cricket team toured Zimbabwe in January 2020 to play two Test matches. It was the first tour of Zimbabwe since the International Cricket Council (ICC) lifted its suspension on Zimbabwe Cricket, due to government interference, in October 2019. Zimbabwe last played Test cricket in November 2018, in a two-match series against Bangladesh. The two teams last played a Test match against each other in July 2017, with Sri Lanka winning by four wickets. Zimbabwe have never beaten Sri Lanka in a Test match. Zimbabwe last played a home Test match in November 2017, against the West Indies.
The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier B was a cricket tournament that was played in July 2022 in Zimbabwe, as one of two global tournaments that together formed the final stage of the qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Global Qualifiers were played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Global Qualifier B was contested by eight teams that advanced from their Regional Finals, were eliminated in the first round of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, or were one of the highest ranked sides not already qualified to this stage. The eight teams were placed in two groups, with two sides from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The two teams that reached the final of the Global Qualifier advanced to the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia.
The Zimbabwe cricket team toured Sri Lanka in January 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
