The Canary Islands, also known informally as the Canaries, are a Spanish autonomous community and archipelago in Macaronesia in the Atlantic Ocean. At their closest point to the African mainland, they are 100 kilometres west of Morocco and the Western Sahara. They are the southernmost of the autonomous communities of Spain. The islands have a population of 2.2 million people and are the most populous special territory of the European Union.

Los Realejos is a town and a municipality in the northern part of the island of Tenerife, which is the biggest town in the Canary Islands. It is part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain. The town is located 2 km (1.2 mi) from the north coast, 5 km (3.1 mi) southwest of Puerto de la Cruz, 6 km (3.7 mi) west of La Orotava, and 34 km (21 mi) southwest of the island's capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The inhabitants are known in Spanish as realejeros.
Teide, or Mount Teide, is a volcano on Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain. Its summit is the highest point in Spain and the highest point above sea level in the islands of the Atlantic. If measured from the ocean floor, its height of 7,500 m (24,600 ft) makes Teide the third-highest volcano in the world, and is described by UNESCO and NASA as Earth's third-tallest volcanic structure. Teide's elevation above sea level makes Tenerife the tenth highest island in the world.

La Laguna's historical center was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. The COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed to have spread to the Canary Islands on 31 January 2020, when a German tourist was tested positive in La Gomera. The second confirmed case of the disease in the islands was found on 24 February, following the outbreak in Italy, when a medical doctor from Lombardy, Italy who was vacationing in Tenerife was tested positive for the disease. Afterwards, multiple cases were detected in Tenerife involving people who had come into contact with the same doctor.
La Provincia - Diario de Las Palmas is a daily newspaper of the province of Las Palmas. It is the result of the merger of the last Spanish evening paper, Diario de Las Palmas (1893), founded by Fernando de León y Castillo, and the morning paper La Provincia (1911) in January 2000. At that time both newspapers belonged to the Editorial Prensa Canaria group formed in 1978.
