The United States' Ken Flach and Robert Seguso defeated Spain's Sergio Casal and Emilio Sánchez in the final, 6–3, 6–4, 6–7(5–7), 6–7(1–7), 9–7 to win the gold medal in Men's Singles tennis at the 1988 Summer Olympics. It was the second consecutive American victory in the event and its record-equaling third gold overall. Czechoslovaka's Miloslav Mečíř and Milan Šrejber and Sweden's Stefan Edberg and Anders Järryd won the bronze medals. It was the first medal in the event for Spain, Sweden, and Czechoslovakia.
Australia's Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde defeated Great Britain's Neil Broad and Tim Henman in the final, 6–4, 6–4, 6–2 to win the gold medal in Men's Doubles tennis at the 1996 Summer Olympics. It was the fourth of five components the Woodies needed for the career Golden Slam; they would later win the French Open to complete the achievement. It was Australia's first official medal in the event, though Australian player Edwin Flack was a member of a mixed team that won bronze in the 1896 event. Great Britain earned its first medal in the men's doubles since 1924. In the bronze-medal match, Germany's Marc-Kevin Goellner and David Prinosil defeated the Netherlands' Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis, 6–2, 7–5. It was Germany's second consecutive medal in the event.
Defending gold medalists Gigi Fernández and Mary Joe Fernández of the United States successfully defended their title, defeating the Czech Republic's Jana Novotná and Helena Suková in the final, 7–6(8–6), 6–4 to win the gold medal in Women's Doubles tennis at the 1996 Summer Olympics. In the bronze-medal match, Spain's Conchita Martínez and Arantxa Sánchez Vicario defeated the Netherlands' Manon Bollegraf and Brenda Schultz-McCarthy, 6–1, 6–3.
The United States' Gigi Fernández and Mary Joe Fernández defeated Spain's Conchita Martínez and Arantxa Sánchez Vicario in the final, 7–5, 2–6, 6–2 to win the gold medal in Women's Doubles tennis at the 1992 Summer Olympics. The Unified Team's Leila Meskhi and Natasha Zvereva and Australia's Rachel McQuillan and Nicole Provis won the bronze medals.

This was the first ever Commonwealth tournament held, Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes of India were the top seed. But they lost in the semifinals to the champions Paul Hanley and Peter Luczak, and had to settle for the bronze medal. Hanley and Luczak defeated Ross Hutchins and Ken Skupski of England 6–4, 3–6, 6–3 to win the gold medal.

The United States' Serena Williams defeated Russia's Maria Sharapova in the final, 6–0, 6–1 to win the gold medal in women's singles tennis at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Both finalists were attempting to become the second woman to complete the career Golden Slam in singles. Williams won the gold, only weeks after winning the 2012 Wimbledon Championships, without losing a set, without losing more than three games in any set, and without losing more than five games in any match. Her serve was broken only once during the tournament. She also became the first tennis player to complete the career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles. It was the United States' first victory in the event since Serena's sister Venus Williams won in 2000, and its fifth gold overall. In the bronze medal match, Belarus' Victoria Azarenka defeated Russia's Maria Kirilenko, 6–3, 6–4.

This was Croatia's first Olympic tennis gold and silver medals. For the first time since 1908, the gold medal match was contested by pairs representing the same country. In the bronze medal match, New Zealand's Marcus Daniell and Michael Venus defeated the United States' Austin Krajicek and Tennys Sandgren, 7–6(7–3), 6–2. It was New Zealand's first Olympic tennis medal.
The Czech Republic's Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková defeated Switzerland's Belinda Bencic and Viktorija Golubic in the final, 7–5, 6–1 to win the gold medal in Women's Doubles tennis at the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was the Czech Republic's first victory in women's doubles, and its third consecutive medal. In the bronze-medal match, Brazil's Laura Pigossi and Luisa Stefani defeated Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina of the Russian Olympic Committee, 4–6, 6–4, [11–9]. It was Brazil's first Olympic tennis medal.

It was both countries' first medals at the event since 2000, and Germany's first victory. In the bronze medal match, Spain's Pablo Carreño Busta defeated Serbia's Novak Djokovic, 6–4, 6–7(6–8), 6–3. En route to his bronze medal, Carreño Busta defeated the world's top two ranked players – the ROC's Daniil Medvedev and Djokovic.
Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski defeated Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah in the final, 6–7(4–7), 6–4, [10–5] to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2022 Madrid Open. It was their first ATP Masters 1000 title.
