Lleyton Hewitt defeated Pete Sampras in the final, 7–6(7–4), 6–1, 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2001 US Open. It was his first major title.

Andy Roddick defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–2), 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2003 US Open. It was his first and only major title. Roddick remains the most recent American to win the US Open men's singles title as well as any major men's singles title. Roddick saved a match point in the semi-finals against David Nalbandian.

Yevgeny Kafelnikov defeated Michael Stich in the final, 7–6(7–4), 7–5, 7–6(7–4) to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1996 French Open. Kafelnikov remains the most recent man to have won singles and men's doubles titles in the same major.

Boris Becker defeated Kevin Curren in the final, 6–3, 6–7(4–7), 7–6(7–3), 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1985 Wimbledon Championships. He became the first unseeded player and the first German to win the Wimbledon singles title, as well as the youngest ever male major singles champion at 17 years, 7 months and 15 days of age. This latter record would eventually be broken by Michael Chang at the 1989 French Open.

Boris Becker defeated the defending champion Stefan Edberg in the final, 6–0, 7–6(7–1), 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1989 Wimbledon Championships.

Fourth-seeded Evonne Goolagong Cawley defeated Chris Evert Lloyd in the final, 6–1, 7–6(7–4) to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1980 Wimbledon Championships. The second-set tiebreaker in the final was the first tiebreak ever played in the ladies singles final at Wimbledon and the match was the first ever singles final to end on a tiebreak. First-seeded Martina Navratilova was the defending champion, but lost to Chris Evert Lloyd in the semifinals.

Novak Djokovic defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final, 4–6, 6–4, 6–3, 7–6(7–2) to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2008 Australian Open. It was his first major title, the first of a record nine Australian Open titles, and the first of 20 major men's singles titles overall. Djokovic became the first Serbian man to win a major singles title. It was the first major final since the 2005 Australian Open not to feature either Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal, who were beaten by Djokovic and Tsonga, respectively, in the semifinals. Alongside second-seeded Nadal, Tsonga defeated three more seeds en route to the final, including ninth-seed Andy Murray.

Defending champion Venus Williams successfully defended her title, defeating her sister Serena Williams in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2008 Wimbledon Championships. It was Venus' fifth Wimbledon title and her seventh major singles title overall. She won the title without losing a set, the second time she did so at a major.

Serena Williams defeated her sister, the two-time defending champion Venus Williams, in the final, 7–6(7–3), 6–2 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2009 Wimbledon Championships. This was her third Wimbledon singles title and eleventh major singles title overall. It was also the third time she won a major after saving a match point against her, which she did in her semifinal match against Elena Dementieva. Serena dropped only one set the entire tournament, to Dementieva in the semifinals.

Andy Murray defeated Novak Djokovic in the final, 6–4, 7–5, 6–4 to win the Gentlemen's Singles tennis title at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships. He became the first British man to win the wimbledon men's singles title since Fred Perry in 1936, ending a 76-year drought, as well as the first British winner in singles since Virginia Wade won the women's event in 1977. He was also the first Scot to win the Wimbledon men's singles title since Harold Mahony in 1896. Djokovic advanced to the final after a five-set semifinal against Juan Martín del Potro. At 4 hours and 43 minutes this match was the then-longest semifinal ever contested at Wimbledon, breaking the previous record set by Boris Becker and Ivan Lendl in 1989.

Lucas Pouille French tennis player (born 1994)

Lucas Pouille is a French professional tennis player. He has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 10, achieved on 19 March 2018 and a career-high ATP doubles ranking of world No. 79, achieved on 11 April 2016. He has won five singles titles on the ATP Tour and was on the winning French Davis Cup team in 2017.

Barbora Krejčíková Czech tennis player

Barbora Krejčíková is a Czech professional tennis player. She has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 3, achieved on 1 November 2021, and on 22 October 2018, she became world No. 1 in doubles.

Garbiñe Muguruza won her second Grand Slam singles title, defeating Venus Williams in the final, 7–5, 6–0 to win the Ladies' Singles tennis title at the 2017 Wimbledon Championships. Muguruza became the second Spanish woman to win Wimbledon after Conchita Martínez in 1994. Muguruza also became the first and only player to defeat both Williams sisters in Grand Slam singles finals. Muguruza dropped just one set the entire tournament, to Angelique Kerber in the fourth round. Serena Williams was the two-time defending champion, but did not participate this year due to pregnancy.

Novak Djokovic defeated Kevin Anderson in the final, 6–2, 6–2, 7–6(7–3) to win the Gentlemen's Singles tennis title at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. It was his fourth Wimbledon title and 13th major title overall, passing Roy Emerson to outright fourth place on the all time men's singles major wins list. The win was also Djokovic's first title in over 12 months, his previous win having been at Eastbourne on July 1, 2017, and returned him to the top 10 in rankings. The Men's Singles competition was contested by all but one of the top 20 male players in the ATP as of 25 June 2018.

Defending champion Rafael Nadal successfully defended his title, defeating Dominic Thiem in the final, 6–4, 6–3, 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2018 French Open. It was his record-extending eleventh French Open title and 17th major title overall. Nadal equaled Margaret Court's all-time record of 11 singles titles won at one major and became the first player to achieve that feat in the Open Era. He lost only one set during the tournament, and retained the world No. 1 singles ranking. Nadal and Roger Federer were in contention for the top ranking.

Two-time defending champion Rafael Nadal successfully defended his title, defeating Dominic Thiem in a rematch of the previous year's final, 6–3, 5–7, 6–1, 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2019 French Open. It was his record-extending twelfth French Open title and 18th major title overall. With the win, Nadal broke the all-time record for the most singles titles won by a player at the same major.

Ashleigh Barty defeated Markéta Vondroušová in the final, 6–1, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2019 French Open. It was her first major singles title, making her the first Australian to win a French Open singles title since Margaret Court in 1973 and the first to win a major singles title since Samantha Stosur at the 2011 US Open. Vondroušová was the first teenager to reach the final since Ana Ivanovic in 2007, as well as the first teenager to reach a major women's singles final since Caroline Wozniacki at the 2009 US Open.

Rafael Nadal defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final, 7–5, 6–3, 5–7, 4–6, 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2019 US Open. It was his fourth US Open title and 19th major title overall. Nadal's victory meant that every Grand Slam title since the beginning of 2017 had been won by either himself (5), Novak Djokovic (4) or Roger Federer (3). This was the first time since 2006–08 that Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal had claimed all four Grand Slam singles titles in three consecutive years.
