2015 Island Games sporting event

The XVI Island Games was held in Jersey, Channel Islands, from 27 June to 3 July 2015. This was the second time that the island has hosted the games, the first being in 1997.

Jersey British Crown Dependency

Jersey, officially the Bailiwick of Jersey, is a British Crown dependency located near the coast of Normandy, France. It is the second closest of the Channel Islands to France, after Alderney.

Caldwell University

Caldwell University is a Catholic liberal arts university in Caldwell, New Jersey, United States. Founded in 1939 by the Sisters of St. Dominic, the University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, chartered by the State of New Jersey and registered with the Regents of the University of the State of New York. The XIII Island Games were held in Åland, Finland, June 27-July 4, 2009. For the 13th edition of the Games, 25 teams competed in 14 different sports.

Sport in Jersey

In its own right Jersey participates in the Commonwealth Games and in the bi-annual Island Games, which it last hosted in 2015. Jersey is a founder member of the Island Games Association and has participated in every Games since the first in 1985. Jersey first competed in 1958 in the British Empire and Commonwealth Games and has since participated in every staging of what became the Commonwealth Games. Youth sports participation includes the Commonwealth Youth Games and Jeux des Isles.

Sport plays a prominent role in Gibraltarian life. The range of sports practiced in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar is wide and varied in comparison to its size of less than 7 square kilometres. The Government of Gibraltar promotes sport within The Rock and supports many local sports associations financially. Gibraltar also competes in international sporting events, having competed in the Commonwealth Games since 1958, and in the biennial Island Games, which it hosted in 1995 and will host again in 2019.

The 1997 Island Games were the seventh Island Games, and were held in Jersey, from June 14 to June 28, 1997.

2017 Commonwealth Youth Games

The 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games was the sixth edition of the Commonwealth Youth Games which started in 2000. The games were held from 19 to 23 July 2017 64 nations participated at the games. The Bahamas 2017 was the largest international sporting event ever to be hosted in The Bahamas, and the largest-ever edition of the Youth Games, with up to 1300 athletes. During the opening ceremony the Prime Minister of the Bahamas Hubert Minnis declared the games officially open.

The Caversham International Tennis Tournament was a professional tennis tournament played on carpet. It was a part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Tour. It was held in Jersey, Channel Islands, from 2008 to 2009.

2011 Island Games

The XIV Island Games was a major international multi-sport event held from 25 June to 1 July 2011, in the Isle of Wight, England. A total of 2,306 athletes from 24 islands competed in 15 sports and 190 events. The 2011 Island Games was the second Island Games to be hosted by the Isle of Wight. Previously, the Isle of Wight hosted the 1993 Island Games.

Riza Zalameda American-Filipino tennis player

Riza Angela Zalameda is an American-Filipino professional tennis player. In 2004-2008 she attended and represented University of California, Los Angeles on the Division I Women's tennis team. She is a former NCAA National Champion in the Doubles and Team events, four-time All-American in singles and doubles. Upon graduating with a degree in Anthropology she played on the WTA Tour, reaching a career high doubles rank of 76. In 2012-2016 she served as the assistant coach for Columbia University's Division I women's tennis program in New York City. Then, from 2016 to 2018, she led the newly fully funded tennis program at Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. Currently, she is the tennis coach at Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.

FB Playing Fields

FB Playing Fields or Florence Boot Fields is a multi-purpose stadium in the parish of St. Clement, Jersey. The grounds are named after benefactor Florence Boot who was the Jersey-born wife of Jesse Boot, 1st Baron Trent.

Jersey Table Tennis Association

The Jersey Table Tennis Association was established in 1923 and is the governing body responsible for table tennis in Jersey. The organisation has been affiliated to the ITTF since 1935.

2019 Island Games

The XVIII Island Games was held in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar between 6 and 12 July 2019. This was the second time that the territory has hosted the games, the first being in 1995.

The XIX Island Games will be held in Guernsey, Channel Islands in summer 2021. This will be the third time that the island has hosted the games, the first being in 1987, the second in 2003.

Table Tennis at the 2015 Island Games was held at the Geoff Reed Table Tennis Centre, Jersey from 28 June to 3 July.
