Noppawan Lertcheewakarn and Nungnadda Wannasuk were the defending champions, but Wannasuk was not selected for the Thai team. Lertcheewakarn partnered Varatchaya Wongteanchai.

Lertcheewakarn and Wongteanchai won the gold medal, defeating Denise Dy and Katharina Lehnert in the final, 6–3, 6–4. Peangtarn Plipuech and Tamarine Tanasugarn, and Jessy Rompies and Aldila Sutjiadi won the bronze medals.

Tanasugarn decided not to participate and Wongteanchai partnered with Nicha Lertpitaksinchai. Second seed Noppawan Lertcheewakarn and Nungnadda Wannasuk won the title by beating Wongteanchai and Lertpitaksinchai 6–3, 6–2 in the final.

Tamarine Tanasugarn and Sonchat Ratiwatana are the defending champions of the Mixed Doubles competition of the 2011 SEA Games. Tanasugarn decided not to participate. Ratiwatana partnered with Varatchaya Wongteanchai but the pair lost in the quarterfinals to Denise Dy and Treat Conrad Huey. Dy and Huey eventually won the title by beating Jessy Rompies and Christopher Rungkat 4–6, 6–3, [10–6] in the final.

Sachie Ishizu was the defending champion, but chose not to participate.

The 2013 PTT Pattaya Open was a women's professional tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 22nd edition of the PTT Pattaya Open and was part of the International category on the 2013 WTA Tour. It took place at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Pattaya, Thailand from January 26 through February 3, 2013.

The women's doubles tennis event at the 2013 Summer Universiade was held from July 8 to 16 at the Tennis Academy in Kazan, Russia.

Timea Bacsinszky and Caroline Garcia were the defending champions, but decided not to participate.

Varatchaya Wongteanchai was the defending champion, having won the event in 2013, but lost in the first round to Dalila Jakupović.

Irina Buryachok and Nadiia Kichenok were the defending champions, but both players decided not to participate.

Ayu Fani Damayanti was the defending champions having won the event in 2011, but decided not to participate in the singles event.
