Chang Kai-chen of Chinese Taipei won the gold medal, defeating Luksika Kumkhum of Thailand in the final, 6–1, 6–2.

Beatrice Gumulya of Indonesia and Varatchaya Wongteanchai of Thailand won the bronze medals.

Chang went up a break and had multiple match points at 5–4 before Watson broke and won a final-set tiebreak. Watson won by a score of 7–5, 5–7, 7–6(7–4). That meant for the first time in 25-year history, a British female won a WTA tournament.

Jessica Pegula and Zheng Saisai were the defending champions, having won the event in 2012, but Pegula chose not to participate. Zheng paired up with Xu Yifan, but they lost in the quarterfinals.
