Teona Strugar Mitevska (born 1974 in Skopje) is a Macedonian film director and screenwriter. [1] [2] [3]

Career

In 2001, Teona Strugar Mitevska made her directorial debut with the short film Veta, which won the Special Jury Prize at the 51st Berlin International Film Festival. Her first feature film How I Killed a Saint was premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2004. [4] [5]

In 2008, Teona Strugar Mitevska directed I Am from Titov Veles, screened at over 80 festivals around the world and won nearly 20 international awards. [6]

In 2019, her film God Exists, Her Name Is Petrunija, won the LUX Prize. [7]

Mirage is a 2004 Macedonian drama film starring Vlado Jovanovski, Mustafa Nadarević, Nikola Đuričko, and Dejan Aćimović, with Marko Kovačević debuting in its lead role. It was directed by Svetozar Ristovski, who co-wrote the film with Grace Lea Troje. The International Cinematographers Film Festival "Manaki Brothers" is an annual international film festival organized by the Macedonian Film Professionals Association (MFPA). The festival is held in Bitola, the town where most of the activities of the Aromanian brothers Yanaki and Milton Manaki were organized. They were the filmmakers, who in 1905 filmed in Avdela the first motion pictures in the Ottoman Balkans. Each year the festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Macedonia and the President of North Macedonia. It tells the story of a woman who wins a local contest, but because its usually reserved for men she becomes ostracised for it. It was selected to compete for the Golden Bear award at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival, and won the LUX Prize and several other awards, as well as being nominated for others.
