Teresa Colom i Pich (born 12 December 1973) is an Andorran author and poet.

Biography

Maria Teresa Colom i Pich was born in La Seu d'Urgell in 1973. [1] She initially studied economics, graduating from Pompeu Fabra University and went to work in a career in finance. Colom won a number of awards for her writing and left work to write full time. Colom won the Miquel Martí i Pol prize in 2000 and the Maria Àngels Anglada prize in 2016. [2] She is considered one of the most important poets in Andorra. Her works have been translated into a number of languages including Spanish, French and Italian. [3] [4] [5] Since 2022 is the Director of Fundació Ramon Llull.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights in Andorra have advanced significantly in the 21st century, and are now considered generally progressive. Civil unions, which grant all the benefits of marriage, have been recognized since 2014, and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is constitutionally banned. The General Council passed a bill on 21 July 2022 that would legalize same-sex marriage in 2023, and convert all civil unions into civil marriage. In September 2023, Xavier Espot Zamora, the Prime Minister of Andorra, officially came out as homosexual.

On 21 July 2022, the General Council voted to open civil marriage to same-sex couples. The law was promulgated by Co-Prince Emmanuel Macron on 17 August 2022, and came into effect six months later.

The Maria Àngels Anglada Prize is a Catalan literary award, given annually by the Institut Ramon Muntaner, in Figueres (Spain), with the aim of contributing to the promotion of Catalan literature, reaffirming the civic and cultural projection of the school and extolling the memory of the writer Maria Àngels Anglada, ex-professor of the centre. The award has the support of the Geli-Anglada family and the sponsorship of the Ajuntament de Figueres and the Diputació de Girona, as well as the collaboration of the Consell Comarcal de l'Alt Empordà.

Narcís Comadira i Moragriega is a Spanish poet, painter, playwright, translator, journalist and literary critic. His poetry is rather classical in nature, with a contemplative theme and a certain ironic point of view. As a painter, he understands his work as an extension of poetry. His first works show references to surrealism and pop culture, as well as his master Domènec Fita. In the parliamentary elections in Andorra on 2 April 2023, the incumbent liberal-conservative coalition between Democrats for Andorra (DA) and Committed Citizens (CC) won an absolute majority led by Prime Minister Xavier Espot. This is the fourth legislature in a row in which DA governs the country. A new party, Concord, emerged in second place, taking the opposition leadership held by the Social Democratic Party since 2019, which fell to third place by losing four seats.
