Teresa Tairi is a former New Zealand international netball player. She has also coached netball for teams from the Cook Islands and in Australia.

Early life

Teresa Tairi was born in the Cook Islands. She later moved to New Zealand, and attended Auckland Girls Grammar School. [1] [2]

Netball playing career

Tairi first played for the Silver Ferns, the New Zealand national netball team, in 1993, when she won a silver medal at the 1993 World Games. She represented the country on 28 occasions. In 1994 she tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee while playing for the national team, and three years later she tore the same ligament in her left knee. She represented New Zealand in the 1999 World Netball Championships, held in Christchurch, New Zealand, winning a silver medal. In 2000, she experienced further difficulties, tearing her right knee cartilage, but was able to get back into the national team in the same year. Tairi played for the Northern Force club from 1998 to 2005. For the 2008 ANZ Championship, the Force merged with the Auckland Diamonds to create the Northern Mystics and Tairi played with the Mystics in that year. [3] [4] [5]

Coaching

In 2009, Tairi coached the Cook Islands for the Netball World Youth Cup, held in Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. The team finished sixth, its best-ever performance. After moving to Australia in 2009, Tairi began to coach both men's and mixed netball teams playing for New South Wales, a role she continued in until 2020. In Australia, she works as a Learning and Development Advisor for the Schindler Group. [6] [7] [8]

Anna Maree Harrison, originally known as Anna Scarlett, is a former New Zealand netball international. During the National Bank Cup era, she played for Otago Rebels and Auckland Diamonds. During the ANZ Championship era, she played for Northern Mystics. In 2012, Harrison began using a rugby union lineout-style form of goaltending. The technique subsequently became known as the Harrison Hoist. During the ANZ Premiership era, she played for Mystics and Northern Stars. As well as playing international netball, Harrison also played for the New Zealand women's national volleyball team and represented New Zealand on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. In 2022, she was included on a list of the 25 best players to feature in netball leagues in New Zealand since 1998. In 2023, Harrison was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to netball and volleyball.

Paula Griffin is a New Zealand netball player of Samoan descent.

Sheryl Scanlan, originally known as Sheryl Clarke, is a former netball international who has played for Samoa and New Zealand. She captained Samoa at the 1999 World Netball Championships. She was subsequently a member of the New Zealand teams that were gold medallists at the 2003 World Netball Championships and silver medallists at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and 2007 World Netball Championships. During the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup era, she played for Northern Force. During the ANZ Championship era, she played for Northern Mystics and Southern Steel. Cathrine Tuivaiti is a netball international who has played for Samoa, New Zealand and Tonga. She represented Samoa at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 World Netball Championships, New Zealand at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and Tonga at the 2023 Netball World Cup. During the National Bank Cup era, she played for Northern Force. During the ANZ Championship era, she played for Northern Mystics. She subsequently played for Central Pulse, Adelaide Thunderbirds, Strathclyde Sirens and Severn Stars. In 2022, she was included on a list of the 25 best players to feature in netball leagues in New Zealand since 1998.

Te Aroha Keenan is a New Zealand former netball coach and member of the Silver Ferns in the 1980s. She later coached the Cook Islands national team at the 1999 Netball World Championships, as well as a multinational Team Pasifika in a test series against New Zealand, the New Zealand U21 team which won the 2005 World Youth Netball Championships, and as of 2008 was the New Zealand A coach.

Courtney Tairi is a former New Zealand netball international. She also represented Australia at under-21 level. She was a member of the Australia team that won the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships. During the ANZ Championship era, Tairi played for New South Wales Swifts, Southern Steel and Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. She finished her netball playing career with Northern Stars in the 2017 ANZ Premiership. Since retiring as a netball player, Tairi has worked a broadcaster, presenter and commentator for Sky Sport.

Kayla Malvina Johnson is a New Zealand netball player. As a high school student, Cullen played representative netball and basketball, and competed at a national level in athletics. In 2008, she was selected in the New Zealand U21 netball team, and was a member of the side that finished second at the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships, behind Australia.

Sulu Fitzpatrick, also known as Sulu Tone-Fitzpatrick, is a former New Zealand netball international. She was a member of the New Zealand team that won the 2021 Constellation Cup and represented New Zealand at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She captained New Zealand when they won the 2018 Fast5 Netball World Series and again during the 2021 Taini Jamison Trophy Series. During the ANZ Championship era, Fitzpatrick played for Northern Mystics, Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and Southern Steel. During the ANZ Premiership era, she played for Mystics, Northern Stars and Central Pulse. During her career, she played for every ANZ Premiership team except Mainland Tactix. She was a member of four premiership winning teams – the 2012 Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, the 2019 Central Pulse, the 2021 Northern Mystics and the 2023 Northern Mystics. Temalisi Fakahokotau is a New Zealand netball player of Tongan descent. She first played for the national team in 2014.

Ana Noovao was an international netball player who captained the New Zealand team. She has since coached netball, including the Cook Islands national team.

Joan Hodson is a former international netball player for New Zealand who was part of New Zealand's winning team at the 1987 World Netball Championships. She represented her country on 35 occasions and went on the qualify as an international netball umpire.

Grace Nweke is a New Zealand netball international. She first competed for New Zealand in September 2021, becoming the first black woman to do so.

Monica Falkner is a netball player from New Zealand. As of the end of 2021, she had represented the New Zealand national netball team on three occasions.

Erikana Pedersen is a former New Zealand netball international. She began her senior netball playing career with Northern Mystics during the ANZ Championship era. Between 2015 and 2021, Pedersen played for Mainland Tactix. In both 2020 and 2021, she was a prominent member of the Tactix teams that finished as ANZ Premiership runners up and grand finalists. In 2022 she was a member of the Central Pulse team that were ANZ Premiership champions. As a result, between 2020 and 2022, Pedersen played in three successive ANZ Premiership grand finals.
