Terrell Brown (born May 1987) is a news anchor for ABC 7 Eyewitness News. He anchors 4:30 to 7:00am as well as the 11am weekday newscasts at the WLS-TV television station in Chicago. His talent as an anchor was recognized with an Emmy for "Best News Anchor" in the Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards competition. Brown joined ABC 7 Eyewitness News as a General Assignment Reporter and Contributing Anchor in April 2014. [1]

Career

CBS News

Brown has been a correspondent for CBS News based in New York since 2009. During his tenure he anchored CBS' early morning news broadcasts "CBS News Up to the Minute," and "CBS Morning News." He was the primary substitute newsreader on CBS' "The Early Show." Following the Colorado theater massacre, Brown anchored CBS’ Special Report. As a correspondent, he’s covered some of the nation’s biggest stories including the Boston Marathon bombing, Superstorm Sandy, the Cleveland kidnappings, the BP Gulf oil spill, devastating tornadoes in Missouri and Alabama and the attempted terror attacks on the U.S. in Detroit and New York City. Brown reported from the White House lawn and U.S. Capitol during healthcare reform and looming government shutdown, the 2011 Academy Awards in Los Angeles and the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami as well as the deaths of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Brown has also reported from the Kennedy Space Center on NASA's historic final shuttle mission.

Brown was honored with a 2014 national Emmy Award for his work on a 48 HOURS special report detailing the manhunt and capture of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects. After covering the campaign trail for the 2010 elections in California, he was awarded a Los Angeles area Emmy Award. He was at CBS News from 2009 through 2014.

His extended time on the campaign trail during the 2010 California State Elections for Los Angeles CBS affiliate, KCBS-KCAL Television, and additional contributions to CBS affiliates in the state garnered Emmy recognition among Los Angeles area television stations.

Brown was named a CBS News correspondent at age 22 — the youngest in the network’s history [2]

WWBT-TV/NBC12 News

Prior to joining CBS News, Brown began as a tape editor at WWBT-TV, NBC12 News in Richmond, VA. The station named him anchor of the weekend morning broadcasts one year after he launched the show as its producer. Brown's breaking news coverage helped earn the station an Edward R. Murrow Award in 2009. [3]

Early life and education

A native of Chesterfield, Virginia, [4] Brown graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA in 2009. [5] He was the recipient of a prestigious alumni award presented by the faculty. The National Press Club also awarded Brown with a full-term scholarship for broadcasting excellence in television. Brown graduated from Matoaca High School, a public school in Chesterfield County just south of Richmond, Virginia. He founded the school's television production. The program still exists today and is now offered as part of the school's curriculum. [7]

Antonio Mora

Antonio Mora is a multiple Emmy Award winning journalist and television news anchor. He is best known for his years at ABC News, including his four years as the news anchor and chief correspondent for Good Morning America. He was an anchor on Al Jazeera America and its 9pm news broadcast. For the first year and a half of the network's existence, he acted as the host of a show called Consider This. He was the first Hispanic American male to anchor a primetime newscast in Chicago and one of the only Hispanic American males to anchor a national broadcast news show.

Ron Magers

Ron Magers is an American former news anchor. Magers previously worked for WLS-TV, the ABC owned-and-operated station in Chicago, Illinois. Magers formerly co-anchored the top-rated 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. broadcasts with Cheryl Burton and Kathy Brock, respectively. Magers is the brother of Paul Magers, a former television anchor and reporter for KCBS-TV, the CBS owned-and-operated station in Los Angeles.

Linda Yu is a Chinese-American former news anchor and author. Yu is best known as co-anchor on the Eyewitness newscast for WLS-TV in Chicago, Illinois from April 1984 until November 2016. Yu became Chicago's first Asian–American broadcast journalist when she began her news career in Chicago at WMAQ-TV in 1979. For her broadcasting work, Yu has received a total of five local Emmy Awards including one for her report examining the aftermath of 9/11 in 2001. In 1984, Yu was honored with a National Gold Medal from the National Conference of Community and Justice for her documentary, "The Scars of Belfast".

Art Rascon is an American news anchor for Disney-owned KTRK in Houston, Texas. Prior to joining KTRK, he worked as a CBS News correspondent on assignments that included international reporting for the Evening News with Dan Rather and 48 Hours. He also reported for CBS Radio, which earned him a national Edward R. Murrow award for his spot coverage of Hurricane Opal in 1995. Gil Gross is an American radio personality. He most recently hosted a weekday radio talkshow on KKSF Talk 910 in Oakland/San Francisco from 10am to 2pm, as well as the syndicated Real Estate Today program on Saturdays. However, that station became a Spanish language sports channel July 23, 2016. He was a news correspondent for the ABC Radio Networks. From 2007 to late 2011 he hosted a show on KGO AM in San Francisco, California, on weekday afternoons. He replaced the San Francisco newscaster Pete Wilson after his death in 2007 as host of the radio show on KGO.

Kendis Gibson Belizean journalist

Kendis Gibson, is a Belizean-born journalist and a reporter for NBC News and MSNBC. He has won two Emmy Awards for "outstanding news reporting" and "sports feature". He has been an anchor and correspondent for CNN, CBS News and ABC News. Gibson also anchored World News Now and America This Morning. He has reported on topics including the crash of the Concorde, the September 11 attacks, the Academy Awards and the Grammy Awards. He is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Jim Paymar

James Paymar is an American journalist and strategic communications specialist. He has worked as a financial correspondent and anchor for CNBC and Businessweek in New York and served as general manager of KCNS-TV in San Francisco. He anchored and reported the news for New York network flagship stations WNBC-TV, WABC-TV and Fox Broadcasting Company in New York. He also anchored and reported for KRON-TV in San Francisco, KOMO-TV in Seattle and KNTV in San Jose.

Cecilia Marcellina Vega is an American journalist, currently serving as senior White House correspondent for ABC News. She joined the network in 2011 as a Los Angeles-based correspondent. Prior to her White House assignment, she had rotated with Tom Llamas as anchor of the weekend editions of ABC World News Tonight. Vega joined ABC News from KGO-TV in San Francisco, where she was part of a team awarded an Emmy in 2010. Before working in broadcast journalism, she wrote for the San Francisco Chronicle.
