Tharoth Sam is a Cambodian actress and mixed martial artist specializing in the Khmer fighting style of Bokator. [1] [2] [3] She has previously competed in ONE Championship.
Sam grew up in a refugee camp on the border of Cambodia and Thailand. Her father, Oum Dara, was a violinist and songwriter. When Sam was 18 years old, she started studying Bokator, a traditional Khmer fighting style, and she entered in her first martial arts fight in 2014. [1] She was coached by Chan Reach Kun Khmer, a Cambodian-American mixed martial arts fighter, and San Kim Sean.
In 2017, she appeared in the films Jailbreak and First They Killed My Father. [4] She also appeared in Loung Preah Sdach Korn, a historical film. [1]
As a fighter, she is known by the nickname Little Frog. [5]
After 18 months absence from the cage, Sam competed in Thailand at Full Metal Dojo 14 and won via rear naked chokes against Thailand’s Surarak Kamla. [6]

Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full-contact fighting sport based on striking and grappling, incorporating techniques from various combat sports from around the world.
Vale Tudo or vale-tudo, also known as No Holds Barred (NHB) in the United States, is an unarmed, full-contact combat sport with relatively few rules. It became popular in Brazil during the 20th century and would eventually evolve into modern mixed martial arts (MMA). For years, "Vale Tudo" was used as a synonym for MMA in Brazil, but the term fell into disuse due to the emergence of stricter rules and the influence of the media to have a more "civilized" name. Kun Khmer, or Pradal Serey, is a combat sport that originated in Cambodia. The sport consists of stand up striking and clinch fighting, where the objective is to knock an opponent out, force a technical knockout, or win a match by points. The sport was codified in Cambodia by the French colonial administration in the early 20th century, and was derived from centuries-old traditions, namely Bokator, the close-quarter combat system used during the Khmer empire. The official Khmer name of the sport is Kbach Kun Pradal Khmer.

In 1238 A.D., Thailand's first state, Sukhothai, was started when the residents declared independence from the Khmer Empire. In 1353 A.D., Laos's first state, Lan Xang, was started by Fa Ngum with the assistance of the Khmer from Angkor.

Dave Leduc is a Canadian Lethwei fighter. He is a former six-time Lethwei world champion who held the Openweight Lethwei World Championship and was undefeated under traditional rules KO to win. In 2014, Leduc first gained widespread notoriety by winning his fight in the controversial Prison Fight inside a maximum security prison in Thailand.

San Kim Sean is a Cambodian martial art teacher. He is often referred to as the father of modern Bokator and is largely credited with reviving the art. At age 13, he studied bokator under Master Khim Leak at Wat Mohamandrey. San Kim Sean also studied boxing under Master Chai Chheng in 1959 and 1960. He studied Judo under Kru So Meng Hong. and Hapkido under Korean master Chhay Yong Ho. San Kim Sean is the founder of the Cambodia Bokator Federation and the Cambodia Bokator Academy.
World Lethwei Championship was a Lethwei promotion based in Yangon, Myanmar. The promotion brought the millennia-old Burmese martial of Lethwei to UFC Fight Pass and showcased it to the world. The WLC events combined the historic traditions of Lethwei with modern entertainment.

Prom Samnang, is a Cambodian Kun Khmer fighter and is one of the most successful Kun Khmer fighters in Cambodia. In 2023, Samnang won the Thai Fight Kard Chuek championship title in Thailand and won the gold medal against Tun Tun Min in the Khun Khmer Men's 81kg division.
