The Astronaut is an upcoming American science fiction thriller film written and directed by Jess Varley and starring Kate Mara, Gabriel Luna and Laurence Fishburne about an astronaut who believes an extraterrestrial has followed her back to earth.

Premise

Rescued from the ocean, astronaut Sam Walker is placed under surveillance following her return from her first space mission amid fears an alien presence has returned from space with her. [1]

Cast

Production

The film marks the solo debut of Jess Varley. It is produced by Brad Fuller, Eric B. Fleischman and Cameron Fuller. Laurence Fishburne and Emma Roberts were cast in early 2023. [2] In September 2023, Kate Mara and Gabriel Luna joined the cast. [3]

Principal photography was scheduled to start in Ireland in late 2023. [4] With the film in post-production, first look images for the film were released in February 2024. [5]
