The Battle of Agincourt was an English victory in the Hundred Years' War. It took place on 25 October 1415 near Azincourt, in northern France. The unexpected English victory against the numerically superior French army boosted English morale and prestige, crippled France, and started a new period of English dominance in the war that would last for 14 years until England was defeated by France in 1429 during the Siege of Orléans.
Wounded in action (WIA) describes combatants who have been wounded while fighting in a combat zone during wartime, but have not been killed. Typically, it implies that they are temporarily or permanently incapable of bearing arms or continuing to fight. Generally, the Wounded in Action are far more numerous than those killed. Common combat injuries include second and third-degree burns, broken bones, shrapnel wounds, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, nerve damage, paralysis, loss of sight and hearing, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and limb loss.
Pteria was the capital of the Assyrians in northern Cappadocia. They were said by Herodotus to have been taken and ruined by Croesus in 547 BCE. It also was the place of the Battle of Pteria, an undecided battle between Cyrus the Great and Croesus.
The Battle of Plovdiv, or Battle of Philippopolis, was one of the final battles of the 1877-1878 Russo-Turkish War.
Issus or Issos was an ancient settlement on the strategic coastal plain straddling the small Pinarus river below the navigationally difficult inland mountains towering above to the east in the Turkish Province of Hatay, near the border with Syria. It can be identified with Kinet Höyük in the village of Yeşilköy near Dörtyol in Turkey's Hatay Province. Excavations on the mound occurred between 1992 and 2012 by Bilkent University. It is most notable for being the place of no fewer than three decisive ancient or medieval battles each called in their own era the Battle of Issus:
- The Battle of Issus or the First Battle of Issus, in which Alexander the Great of Macedonia defeated Darius III of Persia
- Battle of Issus (194) or the Second Battle of Issus, in which P. Cornelius Anullinus defeated Septimius Severus's rival Pescennius Niger
- Battle of Issus (622) or the Third Battle of Issus, in which the Byzantine emperor Heraclius defeated the Sassanid shah Shahrbaraz
The first Battle of Verdun was fought between 29 August and 2 September 1792 between French Revolutionary forces and a Prussian army during the opening months of the War of the First Coalition. The Prussians were victorious, gaining a clear westward path to Paris.
The Battle of South Henan, was one of the 22 major engagements between the National Revolutionary Army (NRA) and Imperial Japanese Army during the Second Sino-Japanese War. This battle was the first time the NRA engaged the Japanese in southern Henan.
The Battle of West Hubei, was one of 22 major engagements between the National Revolutionary Army and the Imperial Japanese Armed Forces during the Second Sino-Japanese War. It was also one of four major battles that took place in Hubei.
The Battle of Saranda took place in southern Albania between the Greeks and the Italians in December 1940, during the Greco-Italian War in World War II.
Fricourt is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France.
Festubert is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France 21 miles (34 km) southwest of Lille. The village was on the Western Front during the First World War and was largely destroyed in the May 1915 Battle of Festubert.
The Battle of Chingleput was a short siege in early 1752, during the Second Carnatic War. About 700 East India Company recruits and sepoys under the command of Robert Clive captured the fortress of Chingleput, near Madras, defended by a French East India Company garrison of about 40 Europeans and 500 troops.

The Battle of Ap Da Bien took place during the Vietnam War, at dawn on 3 October 1973 when the 207th Regiment of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) was raided by forces of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam while sheltering near the hamlet of Ap Da Bien in Thạnh Hóa District, Long An Province. The battle resulted in the death of over 200 soldiers of the PAVN 207th Regiment, of whom most were ex-students of the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
The Battle of Korytsa was fought during the Greco-Italian War of 1940–41 in the town of Korçë in southern Albania between the defending Italian 9th Army and the attacking Greek III Army Corps.
The Battle of Chaksana was fought between the Mughal Empire and the Maratha Confederacy in 1788. The Marathas were led by the famous Maratha general Mahadaji Shinde and the Mughal forces were led by the Uyghur general of the Mughal Army, Isma'il Beg. After a long and fierce battle, it ended with the Marathas eventually retreating.
The Second Battle of Katwa occurred between the Bengal Subah and the Maratha Confederacy in 1745.
Aquae Saravenae was a town of ancient Cappadocia, inhabited during Byzantine times. The Battle of Pankaleia was fought at or near the town.
