The Bellbirds formed in 2009 in Auckland, New Zealand. [1] The band consists of Sandy Mill: vocals, percussion, Victoria Kelly: vocals, piano, organ, Don McGlashan: vocals, guitar, various instruments and Sean Donnelly (also known as SJD): vocals, guitar, bass. Sean Donnelly writes most of the songs. [2]

An article in Stuff.co.nz says, "Having a bunch of songs that didn't fit into a "traditional band setting" gave birth to the Bellbirds." [3]

They played at WOMAD New Zealand, Taranaki on 13 and 14 March 2010. [4]

All four members of the Bellbirds are involved with the recording of Neil Finn's album Out of Silence, in August 2017. [5]

Different Kind of Free marks the band's departure from the bubblegum pop music of their two previous albums, in favor of a pop rock sound.

Rock & Roll Is Dead is the sixth studio album released by the Swedish rock band The Hellacopters. The first edition of the CD came with a 25-minute bonus DVD entitled Poking at the Stiff and chronicled the second of the two weeks of recording the album. The vinyl release had seven different colors of the vinyl: brown, green, white, clear, orange, red and black.
