The Black Market Rhythm Co. is an Australian rock band. The group was formed in 2004, in the Gold Coast, Queensland, by singer/guitarist Christopher Ernst, bassist/guitarist Matt Granfield and drummer Wayne Bennett.
In 2004, the band released a self titled EP under the name 'Christopher Ernst' which sold 500 copies in under two months of release. 12 months later Jake O'Brien joined the band on trumpet and shortly after the group changed its name again to 'The Black Market Rhythm Co.'.
In 2005 the band received consistent airplay on Triple J's Roots 'n All program, was selected for the AMRAP project and received Federal Government funding for a tour of Western Australia. In 2006 the band was featured on Triple J's '2006' new releases program and went on to receive regular airplay on the station and across the Macquarie Regional Radio Network. In early 2007 the band was officially nominated for Triple J's annual Hottest 100 poll.
In June 2007, drummer Wayne Bennett left the band and was replaced by Ben Timony.
The band has recently made a number of major festival appearances, including the 2008 Big Day out, 2008 Woodford Folk Festival, 2007 Queenscliff Festival, 2007 Quiksilver Pro Show and Festival of The Sun.
In late 2007 the band released a video clip directed by Jeffrey Walker (actor) and starring Brooke Harman. The clip received airplay on Rage.
The band was nominated and highly commended in the 2010 Q Song awards. [1]
In 2008 the band released their debut album 'Low-Fi Records, Hi-Fi Radio' and dropped 'the' from its name to become Black Market Rhythm Co. The album received critical acclaim and garnered a four star review in The Australian newspaper's Review section, with critic Sarah Elks deeming the album 'as fresh as newly-baked bread and just as easy to devour'. Music website Faster Louder declared the album a must-buy.
Killing Heidi are an Australian rock band, formed in Violet Town, Victoria in 1996, initially as a folk-pop duo by siblings Ella and Jesse Hooper. The band has released three studio albums: Reflector, which reached No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Present and Killing Heidi. Their top 20 singles are "Weir", "Mascara", "Live Without It", "Outside of Me" and "I Am". At the ARIA Music Awards of 2000 they were nominated in seven categories and won four trophies: Album of the Year, Best Group, Breakthrough Artist – Album and Best Rock Album for Reflector. At the APRA Music Awards of 2001 Ella and Jesse Hooper won Songwriter of the Year. The group disbanded in 2006, with Ella and Jesse taking a lower profile with an acoustic folk duo, The Verses. In 2016, it was announced that the band would be reforming to celebrate its 20th anniversary, and the band have continued to tour since.
You Am I are an Australian alternative rock band, fronted by its lead singer-songwriter and guitarist, Tim Rogers. The Woodford Folk Festival is an annual music and cultural festival held near the semi-rural town of Woodford, 72 km (45 mi) north of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Resin Dogs are a loose collective, a cut and paste sample band who use live drums, live bass, and elements of hip hop via turntables and samplers to create all forms of ritual dance sounds. The Resin Dogs consist of Dave Atkins, DJ Katch, Dennis Kudelka, Jonothan Bolt and Tony McCall, with regular guest appearances in Australia by Hau Latukefu (Koolism), N'Fa Forster-Jones and on their overseas touring they appear with Abstract Rude (ATU) (US), Mystro (UK), and BluRum13 (Canada).

The Gingers were an Australian pop punk band which formed in early 2005 with Etta Curry on drums and vocals; Nellie Jackson on lead guitar, rhythm guitar and vocals; and Chelsea Wheatley on lead vocals, bass guitar and keyboards. Mammal are an Australian band that formed in March 2006. Mammal rose up the ranks of the Australian music scene very quickly. Their first self-titled EP was recorded soon after the band came together. Their debut live album "Vol:1 The Aural Underground" was recorded just 4 months after the band started touring at a sold-out show at The Evelyn Hotel on 2 February 2007. Mammal also released a single titled "Slaves/Nagasaki in Flames" AA side, featuring 3 songs. Mammal entered the studio on 21 April 2008 to begin recording their debut studio album, The Majority which was released in August 2008. It peaked at No. 51 on the ARIA Albums Chart in early September. Some of the band's songs, including Hell Yeah!, New Breed Judas and Slaves, received regular airplay on Australian radio station Triple J.

Barbé's third album Fanm: Woman was nominated for Best World Album at the 2020 ARIA Music Awards. Barbé sings in Creole, English, French and Malagasy and her music fuses the tropical rhythms and dances of the slaves with psychedelic rock, afrobeat, reggae and pop.
