The Bully Police Squad

The Bully Police Squad is an organization with a purpose of educating parents, teachers and children of all ages about bullying and its effects on the world. The organization was founded by Karen Wojcikowski after she learned about the myriad of cases of bullying that have been reported, many of which unfortunately ended in death of the victims. The Bully Police Squad's mission statement, according to their official website, is "Educating our youth on the impact of bullying and empowering the victim and bystander to make informed and courageous decisions." Karen Wojcikowski

Karen Wojcikowski, the founder of The Bully Police Squad, is a Chicago police officer who has served for over fourteen years on the force. Additionally, she is a life coach and a public speaker who reaches out to parents, children and teachers about the effects of bullying. In her speeches, she educates her audience by making sure that society does not lose sight of bullying events that have already occurred and by proposing ideas on how to proceed to prevent future tragedies. She aspires to create a national hotline for bullying victims and their parents to use. Additionally, she follows all of the pending anti-bullying laws and attends numerous bully trials. The Bully Police Squad raises awareness on bullying and social cruelty, advocating for each of our victims. We believe that every call is important, that is why no call ever goes unanswered. The Bully Police Squad strives to educate all parents, children, and teachers on the causes and effects of bullying. Hopefully through this effort, more and more children will be able to see school as a safe learning environment. Currently, she has many projects in the works, television, theatre and advising, just to name a few. The Bully Police Squad was featured on ABC-TV commenting on victims who were bullied, a Spanish language special on bullying for Univision, appearing on Windy City Live on ABC TV in Chicago for a bullying special and was featured in many news publications. The Bully Police Squad was also contacted by many directors and producers for future advising on shows and appearances.

Work on Bullying Laws

The Bully Squad has a partnership with Bully Police USA, an organization that advocates for bullied children and reports on state anti-bullying legislation. This affiliation allows the Bully Police Squad to discuss nationwide bullying laws with experts. [2]

The Bully Squad has released numerous public service announcements regarding anti-bullying, which can be found on their official website, www.thebullypolicesquad.com. Next month, in honor of bully-awareness month, they will be releasing a new one which will be produced by Vincent Bolger Productions. This video will consist of true stories from all around the world in order to depict what other states and countries are doing to take action against bullying. [3]

Critics say the Center made unfounded and unsubstantiated accusations.

Act Against Bullying (AAB) is a United Kingdom charity. It was founded in 2003 by Louise Burfitt-Dons. The charity's purpose is to help bullied children by providing them with confidential advice and to raise public awareness of the problem. The AAB website offers supportive messages and information on all forms of systematic bullying, in particular psychological bullying. The site also features advice on forms of bullying such as exclusion bullying and cyberbullying.

It operates facilities in California, Virginia, Tennessee, and Arizona. The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline services all of the United States, its territories and Canada. The organization also distributes Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe, a school-based abuse and bullying prevention program.

Bully is a 2011 American documentary drama film directed and co-produced by Lee Hirsch and co-produced and written by Cynthia Lowen along with producers Cindy Waitt and Sarah Foudy. The film follows the lives of five students who face bullying on a daily basis in U.S. schools and premiered at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival. It was also screened at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival and the LA Film Festival.

Anti-bullying legislation is a legislation enacted to help reduce and eliminate bullying. This legislation may be national or sub-national and is commonly aimed at ending bullying in schools or workplaces.

Cyberbullying or cyberharassment is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means. Cyberbullying and cyberharassment are also known as online bullying. It has become increasingly common, especially among teenagers, as the digital sphere has expanded and technology has advanced. Cyberbullying is when someone, typically a teenager, bullies or harasses others on the internet and other digital spaces, particularly on social media sites. Harmful bullying behavior can include posting rumors, threats, sexual remarks, a victims' personal information, or pejorative labels. Bullying or harassment can be identified by repeated behavior and an intent to harm. Victims of cyberbullying may experience lower self-esteem, increased suicidal ideation, and various negative emotional responses, including being scared, frustrated, angry, or depressed.

"Making The Bus Monitor Cry" is one of three videos filmed in June 2012 which focused on a bus monitor, who was targeted for bullying by four seventh graders attending Greece Athena Middle School. The video went viral and received numerous video responses and news coverage. A donation campaign was launched for the victim.

Suicide of Amanda Todd Suicide of a Canadian student that took place on October 10, 2012

Amanda Michelle Todd was a 15-year-old Canadian student and victim of cyberbullying who hanged herself at her home in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. Before her death, Todd posted a video on YouTube in which she used a series of flash cards to tell her experience of being blackmailed into exposing her breasts via webcam, and of being bullied and physically assaulted. The video went viral after her death, resulting in international media attention. The video has had more than 14 million views as of February 2022. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and British Columbia Coroners Service launched investigations into the suicide.

SuEllen Fried is an American bullying prevention activist, writer and educator. She was number 900 on President George H. W. Bush's Thousand Points of Light foundation list in 1993.

Suicide of Rehtaeh Parsons Suicide of a student in Canada

On April 4, 2013, Rehtaeh Parsons, a 17-year-old former Cole Harbour District High School student, attempted suicide by hanging at her home in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, leading to a coma and the decision to switch her life support machine off on April 7, 2013. Her death has been attributed to online distribution of photos of an alleged gang rape that occurred 17 months prior to her suicide, in November 2011. On a Facebook page set up in tribute to her daughter, Parsons' mother blamed the four boys who allegedly raped and released images of her, the subsequent constant "bullying and messaging and harassment", and the failure of the Canadian justice system, for her daughter's decision to commit suicide.

Guardians of the Children Canada Canadian Charitable founded in 2014

Guardians of the Children Canada is a Canadian Charitable founded in 2014 Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. As of 2019, the organization has members in five Canadian provinces. The organization is composed of chapters of recreational motorcyclists across Canada. Each chapter works locally with children and parents to help victims and raise awareness of child abuse and bullying.
